Dave Shuttleworth. He has a new Brown-style mind reading effect out. From the email I got today it sounds quite interesting.

King, why not pop over to the introductions section and tell us about yourself.

Sorry to resurrect this post, but what was this all about. I can't find any information on it anywhere!
Thanks, Mark

Have you got the effect he is talking about on his website? It sounds unlikely that it could be what he claims it to be. But I may be wrong. Anyone had any experience with it?

Having acquired a couple of his ebooks, all he seems to do is provide the mechanincs found in other mentalist texts with Derren Brown style performance. He also adds elements of NLP, hypnotism and the such.

Creative minds with Corinda, Annemann and Banachek will be able to reproduce most of the mentalist effects he provides.

That is not to say these are not quality texts. They are written well, with full patter provided. I just feel that there is nothing new with the mechanics (at least the two that I got).

But what about for a novice wanting to learn?

Postby alanaos » Jun 30th, '06, 17:16

You've said that his stuff is well written so would you recommend it for someone just learning about Mentalism and how to do it?

Or is he charging too much for basic stuff?

Where would you recommend I look up this type of magic?

First of all, mentalism is not magic, although there are of course parallels between the two.

If you want to become a mentalist, then may I recommend Craig's fabulous piece Becoming a Mentalist by Craig Browning.

Thanks for that but I can't actually access that page yet. I'm too much of a newbie.

I got the special offer of a bundle of three PDFs last year. I keep meaning to review it all, but in short it's not a massively interesting set of documents considering the price. Perhaps I'll dig it out tomorrow after I get back from the pub after seeing England fail to... sorry, emerge triumphant against Portugal.

I must admit that in the interim I've fallen out of love with hypnosis and into love with more subtle methods of guiding people to the right outcome.

Whoops sorry about that one, didn't realise.

Try this one instead: Becoming a Mentalist by Craig Browning (2nd attempt ).

I actually became interested in self hypnosis initally and had some pretty good results with it. That then got me to thinking about mentalism etc and the fun that could be had entertaining people with the various forms of mind trickery.

Not to mention helping me to land that perfect job (I wish)!
