Postby The_Elf » Apr 30th, '06, 00:23

Hi there, first of all, I apologize for my English, but it's not my language.
Days ago i saw a video with Roy Raphaeli doing a trick... I was amazed so i tried to know that trick's name. And i found this board...

So... I'm here, with a video, where i try to do that trick, Jumpin' Gemini.

Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zMVseHNeAk

Comments, ecc are welcome

Just let me say that i started with magic just few months ago, and I never showed trick to anyone... so you're the first ones.
Let me know if I can go out there and charme some cool girl :D

PS: video's quality isn't good... minimize it...

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I remember this was one of the very first routines that I learnt after only learning basic principles and before even learning DL and Emsley (which I got close to, worked, but my way of how it was done was just a little off. Dam so close. :P)

Anyways, very nice. This was executed a lot better than the one I watched. Although the showing of the Jacks at the end was slightly too quick. Give enough time for the audience to register that it is a jack but quick enough so they don't register the suit clearly. Oh, and keep the way you place the cards to the bottom of the deck a little more consistant. You're using two different styles of putting them to the back. Looks a little suss. If it's more consistant, they wouldn't notice the difference.

I also noticed that your DLs in here are similar to my way when it's only few cards like that. :) So again, nice. :)

The_elf:

This is very nice work. I am glad you have joined TM and I am looking forward to more magic with you.

There is only 2 things I would like to comment on your video:

1. When you perform this trick, or any other trick, where you need to turn a tripple, try to get used to use your pinkey instead of your index (is that the name?). Pinkey is invisible. PM me for more information.

2. When you show your jacks, it's good, but make sure we really see them.

Keep it up mate.

Quite well done! Good work. I'm truly baffled by this trick and would like to learn it one day. Again, well done.

Thanks,

wow, thank you all. :)
I'm glad you liked it.

Give enough time for the audience to register that it is a jack but quick enough so they don't register the suit clearly

Well, actually I made many times that video, since I found myself too quick, so I worked on it to slow my moves. Anyway i was afraid to slow the jacks part, I thought that when i show jacks, even if you do it quickly, audience can see that the card is not a 3 nor a 9... no matter what it is, everyone will figure it out when i'll show the last (and only :) ) 2 jacks.
Anyway I know you're right, I'll work on it.

You're using two different styles of putting them to the back. Looks a little suss.

Hey, that's a great advice.
thank you man, I did not know I put them to the back in 2 ways, I never noticed this :)
I really put the double in a different way, I should change it and start using the other one (taking the cards in the upper part... I feel more confortable)

Thank you too, rcarlsen. I'll start using pinkey (and I'll pm you immediatly :) )

Sorry for asking this but dun think it's the secret. Is it a must to use the 4 cards displayed, 2H, 9S, JC & JD? Coz i saw one b4 and he was using 3H, 10S, KC & KD.

This is such a beautiful trick. It looks really nicely done. Where can I learn this properly? I know how it works, but I'm having trouble doing the DL and TLs using only 4 cards. I'm guessing the proper instructions has it's own method of using the aforementioned techniques?

Hope to hear back!

Cheers,

Min Ku

ohminku -

The effect was created by Darwin Ortiz - and was originally in his book Darwin Ortiz at the Card Table.

Michael Ammar teaches it on his Easy to Master Card Miracles - volume 6.

Gregory Wilson teaches it on his Double Take DVD, as well.

Either one of those choices will help you with it.

That's the beauty of it, they won't notice. I show mine for like just under a second. They eyes concentrate first thing on the picture. Once they've done that. Take it away. :)
