Who Hates The Hindu Shuffle

Postby magic_evmeister » May 3rd, '06, 15:43

I don't know what it is about this shuffle, but I really just hate it. When I learned the Chicago Openor from Andrew Murray's "Thirteen" this was the method he showed to force the second card, but I hated it. Am I alone on this one or do any of you also avoid the Hindu Shuffle at all costs?

I love the Hindu shuffle, I'm afraid!

1. As a shuffle
2. As a control
3. As a force
4. As a false shuffle

:D gets my vote ;)

I don't like the Hindu Shuffle as a force; I think it is too obvious for the method. There are other forces of the same genre (discrepant but convincing) that I think are much stronger than a Hindu Shuffle Force.

However, as a control I think is is very good. I also use it for a Martin Gardner effect where some selected cards are lost in the pack and relocated paperclipped to a note saying, "here are the cards".

Pretty much agree with seige I think it's great especially as a control.

I don't love it nor hate it, but I have a hindu stripper deck and have to use a version of it for the deck to work.

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

Before I began to magic I saw a Hindu Shuffle with force, I thought "So??". I don't like it, even my little sister doesn't fool with it.

which force there are two and one is very deceptive and there is a subtlety that makes the other good as well.

Ain't fussed - like most things there's a time and a place for the Hindu and as Seige has said, it's a very deceptive force.

I dont think ill ever use it, it just doesnt seem to fit the flow of anything I do, though I suppose if you handle the cards the right way from start to finish it could fit in better....

I don't use it much as a control, but as a force I think it is excellent! I have never been caught using the hindu force, and it's preobably one of the easiest forces there is...

I hadn't thought about the other one actually. If we're thinking of the same one then it relies on timing...I like the idea but I can't really pull off the timing aspect of it, maybe I just have bad luck with spectators . The other force has never worked for me, so I just stick to other forces. I'm happy :).

The bottom card force can work well if you apply a subtlety that I first saw from Mike Skutt PM for details.

I'll add:

5. As a false display

As with all sleights, if it fits; it rocks.

I absolutely love it! i have used it on LOADS of people and they never know! You can just prtend to take some cards from the bottom as well as the top, if you do it fast it look very convincing!

I'd have to go for 'aint fussed'. I don't think I've ever really used it as a shuffle, more as a force.
