The Hitman

Postby the_mog » Aug 28th, '03, 19:28

The Effect The Hitman

Cost $6.95 or so from penguinmagic

Difficulty
(1=easy to do, 2=No sleights, but not so easy, 3=Some sleights used,
4=Advanced sleights used, 5=Suitable for experienced magicians only)
a VERY easy 3

Review Your spectator picks a card. You put the card back in the deck. Now you show the cards to your spectator one at a time asking her to look at the cards. You give her special instruction not to show any emotion when her card is shown. You're going to try to read through her expression and discover her card.

You show a few cards, and act as though her card was among the ones you showed. You place these cards in the spectator's hand and ask her to hold tight. When your spectator informs you that her card isn't in the stack you smack down at the cards... all cards fall to the table except the selected card which is left in her hand.

Overallthis trick is sooooo easy with only a few basic sleights but it has an awesome impact!

for price, value and Oz Pearlmans teaching this surely deserves a 10!

Mog - I can't find this either at Penguin Magic - nor in fact anywhere else. Do you have a link to somewhere it is being sold?

thanks.

Lovely little effect - and as mog says, so easy to do... you have to watch the video to believe this one!

Those of you with 'restricted area' access, check the Techniques section for a little 'kicker' addition to the end...

Just adding my eleventy penneth worth after getting this trick.

It's superb for one reason, the magic happens in the spectators hand & there are only two easy sleights to do.
Er sorry.
It's superb for two reasons, it happens in the spectators hands, the sleights are but two & it requires no set up.
Er sorry again.
It's superb for three reasons, it happens in the spectators hands, the sleights are but two, it requires no set up & the bit where the all the cards fall out of the spectators hands is a great climax. (Ooh er missus)
Er & again.
It's superb for four reasons, it happens in the spectators hands, the sleights are but two, it requires no set up, the bit where the all the cards fall out of the spectators hands is a great climax & it's a bargain at $6.95.

Buy Buy Buy It.

Er any chance someone could PM me the little kicker addition as I don't have access? 8)

I had a lot of troubles with that trick , because every time I smack down the spectator's hand, I hurt his hand so badly that he does'nt want to talk to me anymore :D

I watched the demo...and I think I figured it out...But I might be wrong. Looks really cool though! Nice review, too.

Thanks,

yeah this is a really easy effect to do...i have this in a card trick book that ive had for a while...ive performed it several times and gets good reactions but i dont know if its worth $6.95 as you can pretty much do the trick with 2 simple sleights if you think about it

i've not seen this effect, but it does remind me of a vaguely similar effect in the amazing Kreskin book - no sleights involved or anything, just reading their face as you show them each card...

so by the sounds of it, if you like the review, you might be interested in the Kreskin effect too... :)

OK, I'm not much of a card user. Really no exp with cards even though there are so many awe inspiring tricks, How hard is this to do with no card manipulation techniques?

You really only do need a few sleights, it even tells and shows you how to do that. I think it's great :D

Ok, delude, thanks for your opinion, I have been practising this trick for about 7 minutes now and used my father as a test... He was about to potty* himself. this really is a neat trick and a good introduction to card tricks as well.

Very easy to perform, it was like $6 on penguin, it was worth it to me.

This is the trick that got me started in magic 15 years ago. My high school math teacher showed this to me and I got the bug. I can't believe penguin is charging 6.95 for this trick.
