What I Say

Okay, I kept watching the instructional video on the Subterfuge website and just couldn't work out how such an effect could be done so easily and smoothly. I had to order it staright away and join the SMS forum, which I did. I was thinikng about it every day, hoping for it to come; about 2 weeks later it did arrive and trust me, it was well worth the wait. [keep in mind the SMS is coming from America]. As soon as it came I whipped it all out the pack and tried on the ring, it was perfect! Not too big or small, slides a little bid but that's fine. I thought that the case looked very professional, a detailed blurb on the back teasing about the effect making you just want to smash through the case and pull out the DVD.
I opened the case up and saw an instruction booklet inside, with all the effects and how to do them, with quite detailed instructions too, again everything looking very proffesional. I stuck the DVD in quickly, Kenneth Sanders and Jason Reed were in front of me, teaching every effect and everything you need to know about the Subterfuge Magic System.

I am really happy with the DVD and how helpfull it is, EVERYTHING you need to know is on there and in the instructional leaflet. Once this effect is purchased, an E-mail is sent to the buyer saying to register at the SMS forum [ www.subterfugemagic.com/forum ] and send a copy of the e-mail to the SMS admin e-mail address. Once this is done, access to a private part of the SMS forum is grabted and SMS owners share even more methods and ideas on how to use the Subterfuge Magic System. I find the forum very helpfull in collecting more ideas, and even replecicating some well known magicians effects using the SMS.

The whole subterfuge magic team is great and are really helpfull. I, like others had so many questions to ask and they were all replied to quickly and kindly. I'd like to thank everyone at SUbterfuge in creating this wonderfull effect and helping me out.


I do highly reccomend this effect as i just totally love how it works and what it can do. I'm sure some TM forum members will be along in a minute persuading everyone not to buy this as there are other ways of achieving these effcts but i honestly wouldn't listen to them. You know who you are! I think the SMS really is a good buy, it CAN be performed ANYWHERE, any time, it doesn't matter who to and just really forget about the nonsense othe rpeople say in the reviews.

I'd have to give the Subetrfuge Magic System a 10/10. I only buy effects that i look into deeply and I'm not just trying to be king but i really did research this effect and i do think that it is that great.

how "clean" are you after the vanish?

Totally clean. There is nothing. You can pull up your sleeves and show nothing up them, have your hands totally checked out. Whatever you want. You can perform a coin vanish without a top if you're that daring. There is nothing to be found at all.

Why do you say that? lol. No, you don't need a table, you can do it standing, sitting, probably most situations you think of, you can do it.

Damn. I saw this a while ago, and was hoping that it would get a bad review so that I won't have to become obsessed with buying it...

In terms of how practical it is, does the system have awkward setups or rigging - how does it compare to the raven in terms of ease of use and practicality?

Does it have to be used specifically for the vanishes/transpos shown on the demo, or can it be used as a utility vanish within other effects (ie. are any of the mechanics of it likely to interfere with handling other objects normally?) -

Are there any issues with noise or other tells when it's used?

While some of the effects shown can be achieved by other methods, this does look particularly clean, so if it's actually practical to use, it looks like a good thing. I'm thinking that some astonishing things could be achieved by combining this system with some sleights...

What size objects can you vanish and is it anything like Blackhole?

I havn't a clue what blackhole is, sorry. You can do the vanish when you want and you can handle everything as normal with nothing in your hands at all if you want. Noise really isn't a problem at all, all these sort of queries are in the subterfuge forum and people always help in the private section. It is very practical for setting up, it wont take a few seconds and then it can be used on and off for well, however long you want! Reset time is about 0.5 of a second for me now.

Looks nice...it does say that this is for small item vanishes only, and it does not come with all the gear to do all the effects in the video. But the effects are strong!

Yeah it does look nice. My concern is that I'll buy it, then it will sit on the shelf along with my raven that I don't use because I find it fiddly.

it'll cost $55 to ship anywhere in the world. It is not like the M5 and i dunno what you mean about it not having the gear to do everything in the video. All you need is a coin!
