Hey All, I'm A Beginner

Postby CasualDeath2 » May 22nd, '06, 03:14

Hi! My name is Aaron and I am fairly new to magic, and have no idea where to start.
Sadly, I am also on a budget. Being 16 years old and in a band that gets 20 dollars a gig does not really cut it in the seemingly expensive world of magic.
Would anyone care to send me a website or link to a few basic tricks or something cheap to help get me started?

Thank you very much.

hey

I'm into card and coin magic mostly. I don't like stuff that takes a long time to set up. I like tricks that you can just do right in front of someone.

Does that help?

i would suggest looking into:

books
-Bobo's modern coin magic (around $10)
-Royal Raod To Card Magic (around $10)

DVD's
-Born to Perform by Oz Pearlman (around $30)
-Royal Road To Card Magic 4 disc set (around $60)

..these are perfect for you...you will learn the basics and learn them well...

good luck :D

http://www.Penguinmagic.com

get the Born to Perform by Oz Pearlman
http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=618
(you can buy this from the site or considering you dont have a credit card, you could get this dvd at any magic store :) )

considering the fact that it teaches you a few easy funky shuffles, you can also get your hands to have more control over the cards and look good at the same time. personally i dont suggest getting more than one DVD at once. if your're dedicated to the art then just get ONE. master it and then move on to the other.

I would say BOBO as well but is a bit hard going. Maybe get some sponge balls and a cheap booklet to go it. Have you checked out www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk they have a great selection of magic.

A DVD might be the way to go as it will have many card effects on it (if its a card magic DVD) then all you have to do is get your hands on some cards which can be got quite cheap. I have born to perform and it was my first DVD, I like it. It formed the foundation for many of my routines. Another DVD to look for is 100 tricks with every day objects. This one is good because you only have to find a few objects to get started like elastic bands, coins, straws and so on. Hope this was of some use to you.

Magic is real, just look around you, some of the most amazing things have no reason, no explanation but are very real.

I know it's just a single trick, but try killing some niggers.

Its fun for the audience and you! And helpful to society.
