Mandrake's hand is firmly raised skywards. I’m happy to pay to find out how something is done (until the credit card bill arrives) and even if I see someone doing the same thing in performance I enjoy it all the more and can appreciate not only the effect but the method and processes used to achieve the result. I really enjoy seeing someone doing a very simple and basic effect, possibly with a TT or writer, yet seeing them give a fresh gloss to it by adding a few twists and personalisations to an old idea. True magic!who has bought an effect because it sounded good and you wanted to know how it was done?

The difference is that we're interested in the knowing for performance sake and have usually paid for the priviledge whereas others, many others want to know for free and begrudge having to pay.
They see a different value in the knowledge, or no value at all once they know. they're only intertested in satisfying their own curiosity where as we, hopefully take our new found knowledge onto a different level.
