Dont you hate when someone gets more credit then you!

Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

Sorry Dave, said member was excluded from TM yesterday after several complaints and several inappropriate posts. You'll need to seek guidance elsewhere, I'm afraid !

What a shame. Just when you need a plague you can't get one anywhere.

I think it is easy to forget that magic is foremostly a perfomance art as without an audience or a spectator you have....well not much.
So in a way it is the entertainment or amazment value / reaction that you get that really is the important factor here.
Saying this though I feel as a performer one gets far more satisfaction from performing a routine which uses ungimmicked props and relies more on your skill of sleights and misdirection.
The only problem the person in question will get from using gimmicked items exclusively is that it is more difficult to come up with a flexible routine as the need to swap in and out gimmicked decks, coins etc. is so great.
I would say just feel content in your own routines and performance and when he's not looking break all his things....obviously dont take my adivce on this.

But people always come up to me and say how did he put the pencil through that card or cigarette through the coin, and it drives me nuts lol. He doesnt give me any credit at all. He doesnt know about sleight of hand at all. He couldnt do a doublt lift or the pass if his life depended on it. I would have alot more respect for him if he gave me credit for my sleight of hand but he doesnt. Anyway maybe its time I start ordering some packet tricks haha.

Why should he give you credit for your sleight of hand :? Its not as if he is using your effect or anything.

Think about this: You know someone who does magic. You show someone a trick. Then you say that guy over there is better than me, so go and watch his tricks. Doesn't it seem kind of silly?

That's not credit what you're asking for, it's recognition (I believe). Credit should morally be given to a person whose work or skill is being used in a way by someone else. If you made up a trick and he would use it, he should give you credit. If you just shown him a trick he wouldn't know otherwise, he should give you a sort of credit (more like being graceful). But this man doesn't "owe" squat to you. :)

And also magic with gimmicks tends to be more visual.
