hey... im trying to rig up a "something" with some sort of glo plug. does anybody have any experiance with glo plugs at all? i just need to know what voltage to get...i also need it as small as possible. i was going to take a flash gun appart but then i decided thats dumb why dont i just buy the parts

the other thing is the wire thats on the glo plug and the battery... is it possible to get the wire about a foot longer? or would it need more batteries then?... i wish i knew an electrician

The best place to start is probably going to be a model shop. Methenex and Nitrex RC aeroplane engines are usually glow engines. I think they're probably 9-volt, but your local model shop will help.

The glo-plugs i will have are 1-1/12 V and 3 V

with model car glow plugs you need to get the HOT versions as the cool and warm version wont get hot enough ( i run a few remote control cars)
and use flash collton or wool they take alot better! and 12 volt converters can be bought from WWW.Hobbystores.co.uk also look at www.ripmax.com

with regards to the length of the wire it dont matter (up to about 20 metres)

wicked guys! thanks.. no one understands what im talking about... someone had suggested a barbeque starter.. (which works i tried it) however its to big and when i took it apart to modify it in did get enough oompf in it to make the spark.. it was really only a financial waste as i figured out what i needed....

as you are in canada have a look at tower hobbies website (check google)

update: went to a hobby store got what i thought i needed was about 40$ altogether. i managed to make a circuit happen, but attaching the plugs is a bit of a challange the battery pack and switch arent as small as id like. (and its an actualy switch id rather get some sort of spring loaded button) so im off to radioshack or whatever they call that place to see what they have.. failure is not an option
