Has anyone ever checked out the Jolly Almanac of Card Knavery as a resource for card magic?

From the Introduction of the book:

"What exactly is the Jolly Almanac? It's a single-volume introductory text on card magic that should fit easily on your shelf. It's got old material and new material. It's got classic tricks with updated scripts. It's got methods and variations on those methods. It's got a ton of principles. With sleight of hand, it's not just about how to do the move, but what move to do, when to do it, and why, and this book has thousands of words of theory to cover all of that."

Basically it compiles material from The Royal Road To Card Magic and some other sources (e.g. Erdnase) that are no longer subject to copyright, and updates, paraphrases, and annotates them. The result is a 242 page book, with the following contents:

I highly recommend it. The author has spent a good part of his life immersed in this material, and does a spectacular job in working through it.

His name is Mark Lewis ... oh wait, that's you! Well, what I said still holds true. Well done Mark!

I've only just started it. I recently finished working my way through Card College 1 & 2, and so my next project is to work through this carefully, if time and opportunity permits.

I recently had to make an move to another house, which was very unexpected, and only with short notice.

So I've had to put a lot of other things on hold for a bit - sorry about that.

The Annotated Royal Road to Card Magic, by Mark Lewis, is unreservedly recommended.

The effort Mark has put into preparing this classic work for the 21st Century, is truly phenomenal.

So many of the sleights have been updated; and alternative (newer) variations offered. Many of the tricks themselves have also been improved upon. This book truly is all that you would need to create a Card Magic Act; importantly, one that could be worked under any conditions.

Along with a brick of Waddingtons, this is the book I'd happily save to take along to that elusive desert island; and should a rescue ship come along......I'd hide.
