Review
i first ordered the Neo pack from NUMS as i wanted to get into this side of "magic"

i was amazed by the power and the things i could do with it, managed to baff a few friends out and thought "well this is fun" i had some extra money and thought "why not...lets get the monster"

when the beast arrived from NUMS (free postage :) )and imediately i thought... "uh oh" it's quite heavy and as soon as i got it out of package my TV went all funny and my monitor had to be de-guazed (sp?) did i mention i was 3-4ft away.

the power of this trick is awsome, standing up coins one on top of the other from 4-6" away. i have been too scared to use any other bertha's with it as i think i would not be able to seperate them again.

Overall

this is going to be a work in progress if that is alowed. im a complete novice but already have managed to really confuse my girlfriend and my dad. so im already one up.

more to follow in the next few weeks.

Tony

p.s. i would like to say thanks to Chris at www.nothingupmysleeve.co.uk who has been SO helpful along the way yeah i spent a few quid with him but he has replied to every email and helped more than others whom i have spent thousands with. very good service and a product that is baffling everyone around me.

I have previously slagged this off (despite the fact the originator is a mod) but a friend has since bought it, I haven't bought it yet but I hear the extras that now come with it are much improved and worth the cost alone.

If it's any consolation to anyone considering a Monster, who may think that magicians are being ripped off by dealers on magnets, can I just say that over the weekend I did some costings and the results were a bit worrying!

MONSTER BERTHA PACKAGE:
When bought with TM discount (10%) and free shipping on NUMS, the cost comes out at £49.50 to the customer.

From this, it costs me £5 to ship it.

Which leaves £44.50.

For the card transaction, I am charged £1.20, which leaves £44.30.

It takes 1/2 hour to drive to post office, and back.

Packaging, printed materials and the likes cost about £1.20.

We're now at £43.10.

Most of the items in the pack are hand-made by me, and the materials costs (without my time & production) for the kit are £39.

This leaves me with £5.10 profit—which merely covers the time and effort to write the two included booklets, put the package together, and ship it.

So, am I on a loser here? Who is the fool in this setup?

I did make a claim I could get the price lower on a Monster, but in light of this costing exercise, I should be RAISING the price.

However, I won't be. As I believe it's great value for money. And part of the thrill for me is that every Monster package which has left the building has had great feedback. And personally, that's what counts.

Extras are on the NUMS page and there are more info in the forums, just search for it. And yes this is much powerfull than the M5.

well i have been using this for a week or two now, but i have already left people asking themselves "how the fu*k"

tonight i was going up to the off licence to buy me some beer!

thought, hehe lets try it on my local friend :)

went in there and started getting my beer and working out my angle to vanish something for my beer serving friend.

"maybe i could... BANG"

s***, i was stuck to the shelve of the fridge, one of those large shelved open types, i try and get my arm free but now the lady behind the desk is looking over trying to work out what went bang and as i pull away the whole damn shelve drops. taking everything with it. 40+ beer cans on the floor, not one of them split which is some kind of magic on it's own.

spent 10mins helping clean up and walked out.

oh dear.

i lose.

Cost of shipping: £5
Cost of handmade components and materials: £39
Cost of card transaction: £1.20
Cost of making Flash laugh loudly with an amusing tale about unexpectedly attaching yourself onto random objects and the ensuing chaos it causes: Priceless.

There are some things CUPS just can't buy, for everything else there's NUMS.

:D :D HAHA!! Nice ;)

I've had my Monster Bertha for a bit now, but I haven't really started to use it yet, coz of exams and things. But now they are all finished I will start giving it a go.

As far as its power goes, well I don't think you would really want it any more powerful! I don't know how it compares to the M5 as I don't have it but I hear it is stronger, correct?

I will write some more when I have 'had a proper go' ;).

Definitely laughing with you (although if I'd been there I admit it'd have probably been at you, sorry)

I believe the highly esteemed Mandrake may have some similar stories he may like to share if you're lucky...

And if you're really unlucky I'll tell you lots of stories!

When my Bertha arrived I opened it at work and the scissors on the desk (flimsy things with plastic handles) just shot straight up and only just about missed my fingers on the way. After that I had far more respect for Bertha! There's a very old post about the M5 system where the guy describes getting stuck to radiator and the frantic efforts to free himself without letting on what was happening. I used to think it was quite funny but I know better now! As for Monster Bertha…….

I had an incident wher I was sitting around a table full of other people at a banquet type thing. I had an M5 strapped to my wrist and reached across the table for something. :?

Unfortunately we were all having soup at the time and the person sitting next to me had a spoon lying in their soup which proceeded to fly up in the air & cover both me & him in soup

Very embarrasing but it was a table full of magicians so we all had a laugh luckily.

Not recommended for table hopping

i wonder if the metal used in orthodentists would attract to it? i'd hate to see any magician walking down the streets with a group of teenagers attached to his leg...
