There are some tips to get black decks and split spades to be accepted as normal.
1. Treat the deck casually and give a brief reason for using it and why it's black. Any good patter will do. (e.g., bicycle made an error, black cards were associated with black magic, in the 19th century, etc..)
1. begin with a flourish routine.
a. rifffle shuffle
b. fan deck both sides
c. dribble cards
d. ribbon spread cards then use last card to flip ribbon.
2. have a spectator shuffle the deck in overhand shuffle.
These should enable the spectators to see both sides of every card and since a spectator shuflled and handled the deck thus eliminanting most people's perception that it is a trick deck. If someone in the audience is predisposed to believe you're using a gimmicks they'll believe this is a gimmick too. Making the audience accept the cards is simply the same as using misdirection in a trick.
These tips were obtained from "The Black Deck Book" and I think pertain to any peculiar colored deck we may use whether it may be the black tiger deck or blaine's split spades.
