how are bikes made?

how are bikes made? there's the card and the print, but then what's on top?
I have some 2wk old bikes, on some black cards the spots aren't solid. They have specs of white. Did they wear/flake off, or was it originally like that? I can't see any on the reds, am I mistreating my cards?

Bicycle cards are made up of three layers of card; the two faces and a centre piece.

There are others on the forum who have had experience with the type of ink used on the cards, so they'll give you more detail, but basically the ink is as permanent as it can be. if you try to take the ink off you'll also be taking a layer of card off aswell.

It sounds like your cards are just misprinted, which is a shame. Not a huge deal though, so don't worry about mistreating them. Keep them in a cage under the stairs if you want, and only feed them mouldy bread and stagnant water.

All the best,

The cards are also air cushioned right? How does that help with the smoothness? I also read that linoid finish was much better than the air cushioning (but that was long time ago and now they don't do that).

What is linoid anyways and how does it differ to the nowadays air cushioning?
