Postby Delude » Apr 25th, '06, 17:09

Hello Everyone :D I just bought a unicycle as it was reducted to half price because nobody else wanted it. I thought it'd be a laugh and i can actually ride one (well could about 5 years ago!) and just thought it'd be fun to mess aorung on :D

Anyone else got a Unicycle? (Gonna pick it up tomorrow)

Hmmm yes, I bid for one while enjoying a few too many glasses of red wine on ebay and I won it. My wife at the time went mad at me when it got delivered. :( She just did not understand the lure of the CUPS!

Shouldn't that be DUPS (Drunken Unecessary Purchasing Syndrome) or, more informally, PUPS (please don't tell me I need to explain that last one) :D.

My brother is a unicyclist and recommended that learners should use a wall to steady themselves, your best bet is to see if there's a local juggling club as these oftren teach related skills..

I wont lie to you. No. I tried it once and nearly broke my neck! I think I will stick to card magic. Much safer. Never hurt myself with a bad DL!

Lol. That sounds good flash, is your brother the guy on the unicycle in a picture on your site? He looks great :D I'll try it, where i live sucks and there wont be anything near to a juggling club. Myabe a youth hostel and some angry people that can speak n owords with 2 syllables. Is your brother like there with you if he reccomended that? Hmm, i think i'll try with a wall, i can juggle but only pass juggle :( With 3 or 4 balls. I can use diabolo but not do many tricks, just throw it mega high and catch it :D I need to learn how to juggle properly. Do the unicycles need to have a chain (good unicycles) i can't remember if this has a chain or not (pickin up from shop tomorrow, i llast saw it about a week ago cos i rang up). it can extend i think to differnt hights, this shop is a sort of juggling weird shop, sells pois and various bits. Flash, would your brother have gone to Covent garden and does he have a street lisence? I saw someone remarkably like him above me juggling knives like those over my face whilst i wa slying down about a year ago. Got some pics still :D

Any more tips for the unicycle?

Ah that would be another of my associates one Tim Foolery/Frank Dapper, and yes he did busk in Ciovent Garden (I think there's a video at www.timfoolery.co.uk).

My brother is a clown called Justo and started unicycling when he was about 14, he's not here at the moment as he's touring round Cambridgeshire with Circus Mondeo (I think he was in St. Ives/Neots last week), you never know he might be near your town now...

Have fun. Don't fall and hurt yourself. That's all I can say. I always sucked at balancing... Even just walking normally I fall out of balance...

Thanks guys :D Any sites that'll teach basics for unicycling? Like mounts and dismounts and just basic riding?

I think I tried to ride one once that was left lying around at a juggling club...

Any chance you can fit it with stabilisers? :D

Definitely, they're widely available. If you fit the stabilisers then it's called, er, a bicycle.

;)

A WARNING TO YOU ALL!

BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU CHOOSE TO RIDE

I have had a unicycle for about ten years now and to begin with just practiced on my drive. After I had learnt to control it and built up the confidence I took it to the street just outside my house.
After about about fifteen minutes of riding up and down a Police car pulled up alongside me and advised that I 'move along' otherwise I may get arrested for causing an accident by distracting passing motorists.

Needless to say I soon realised that the local park was a safer and less well Policed area!!
