atomo - never take the status on here to mean anything...its nothing to do with how good a performer you are...take mine for example!

have a look through Doug's site to see who he "is"...

are you coming to the next tabula mentis thing next month Doug?

I'd really like to, bearing in mind how incredibly skeptical I am of "magic clubs" I found that I really enjoyed the last one and felt that it could develop into something good, unfortunatly I'm doing an after dinner show at a conference for a bunch of food science companies in Malta that day.

I'll definitly come to the next if I'm not working though.

I imagine it's Bruce Bernstein, as Doug mentioned him in his first post. Bruce is one of the (almost) unsung heroes of mentalism, and I wouldn't be too surprised to find out that a great many mentalists haven't heard of him.

i know what you mean about belonging to any "group" as such...but i loved the first one, just to sit an chat about all kinds of things...

shame you're not coming to the next one doug, we've got a new place, much bigger - enough room to split off into little groups and brainstorm...which is the biggest draw for me...

glad to see part-timer coming along for the next one too... :D

Atomo wrote:Fair enough Doug, I didnt know you were an experienced performer, as I havn't heard of you or been to any of your ' london theatre, university or corporate shows' and your TM status is 'junior member', so sorry if you felt patronised by my remarks.

's ok. No reason why you should have. But to be honest I'd have felt just as patronised if I was a totaly noobie.
A simple "We don't allow open discussions" would have carried a bit less snootyness.

But even though your an experienced performer, its still probably best not to come on TM and openly talk about methods

Yep - exactly as I admitted in my last post.

yeah we get it-you know what your talking about!
.

And I got that you were trying to assert your "old handness" when you told me not to Method Fish. Fair enough, after all as you point out you have made 80 more posts here than me.

I have only just started becoming interested in mentalism, im a sleight of hand guy at heart, but at the moment im really into max maven and banachek. Who is this 'Bruce' you mentioned, your right, I havn't heard of him.

Bruce Bernstein.

Unfortunatly this wave of current interest in mentalism seems to have driven people to largely focus on the works of people born out of this this current wave (Max and Steve not withstanding).

You should also check out Al Mann, Chan Canasta, Will Dexter, Stanton Carlisle, Orville Mayer and Ford Kross.
Masters!

Doug

Peace

Nicely dissected Doug, a little neurotic perhaps, but i enjoyed your comments and reccomendations none the less. I always seem to rub people up the wrong way on this website, but thats where shootin' from the hip gets you a lot of times i geusse.

Anyway, before this became the 'Who is Doug Segal?' thread, i had posted a comment about the quality of the Kioku cards which i had recieved. Since then i have been in touch with Rick at Outlaw Effects, and he has kindly said that he will send out replacements straight away. A quick reply even on a sunday.

I can see myself buying a lot more stuff from Outlaw.

Thanks alot Rick! Kioku is excellent

no, you rub people up the wrong way by being somewhat rude and arrogant..."shooting from the hip"...come off it now...you're not some cool rebel really are you... [/b]

 i would like to arrogantly disagree with that. I would admit that i do enjoy writing in a provocative style sometimes, but i am always truthful, and never rude. Sarcastic maybe, but rude is a bit strong.

I think too many people on this site will just agree with everything, and follow the flow of a thread, for fear of annoying the big boys. If i think a product is not up to par then i will say so, if i think a new poster is diverting the course of a thread by blowing their own horn, or fishing for methods i'll happily point it out.

in the words of my hungarian brother Speak- stop the war. i want peas.

no...personally speaking only, i do find you quite rude sometimes and accusatory...

anyway, without wishing to turn this into an "about atomo" thread; i've never bought an Outlaw product, and i don't quite know why...

i like the look of some of the wallets, but just can never bring myself to add to basket... :?

ok Abraxus, personally speaking only, i often find you to be a tedious kiss ass. Do yourself a favour an actually buy an OUtlaw product so that you might have something of meaning to contribute to this thread.

wow your lame!, Hicks is a dead legend, of course i dont think im him. But we can keep his spirit alive by challenging the majority and sticking up for what we believe in. so with that in mind im certianly not going to allow a boring sheep like you have any influence over what i choose to write on this forum.

Keep learning how to wipe your bottom, and do yourself a favour: drop out of this last-word contest, because i've got the day off, and i can keep up this ridiculous banter all day.
