...i think the Derren Brown book is about exploring the various methods he may or may not actually use...

..and he's asked that his other two books to not be re-printed...

I would heartily suggest the First Psychic by Peter Lamont. Peter Lamont is a historian of both magic (conjuring) and psychic/esp type stuff. It's a cracking read and would be loved by anyone who has any interest at all in magic, mentalism, and faux-psychics.

...not precisely magic, but witchcraft - h.p. lovecraft tales from the witch-house is one of my favourites...

...M.R. James is another favourite... :)
