Name: twisting arm illusion

The trick: Ask asking a spectator to copy the action of your arm that is put on the table, you twist your arm a full 360 degrees while others look at you in disbelief.

I give it a 10 in perform
and a 7 in learning because it took 5 hours for it to get right.

but when it works its briliant! one thing thats not good is that you must have a long sleeveed shirt on you for the effect.
exept for that the trick is awsome

I did this once after some strong card tricks that use long practiced slights. The speces fell out on the twisting arm effect!

Color changing cards? Not bad.
Impossible predictions? Yea, that's nice.
Twisting arm? WAY COOL! Do that again!

Go figure. Don't underestimate the simple ones.

I have done this illusion especially for the kids but I was wondering how David Blaine does the sound affects of the bones crackling. I know I can make my nose crackle by using the thumb nail off of your teeth but that takes two hands.

Jay,

Blaine reportedly uses a clear plastic cup such as the kind you would use on a picnic. I've seen this illusion done by a local magician who used a piece of uncooked pasta noodle (bowtie pasta if I'm not mistaken.) The effect he achieved was great and very convincing.

Hope this helps...

Follow-up to last post:

Didn't mention that the bowtie pasta was placed in the mouth and the magician bite down on it while doing the illusion.

Good luck!

I can't see how 360 degrees is actually possibly, unless you have the opportunity (and use armfuls of misdirection - if you excuse the pun) to reset you position at least once!

You do, without giving to much away, nealing down, you place your arm down normally and have a spec next to you who will also attempt to do it(nealing/squatting down), as you lean over towards them (to your side) for some reason, e.g. point and say "no put your hand more over here" you set your arm in a different position so that, when you lean back to your original position your arm takes the tension and allows you to turn a full 360 with no effort. By repeating misdirection e.g. "that didn't work for you did it, try placing your hand nearer to you, about here" you once again set your arm in the position. It's one of the most basic physical effects you can do!!!

It would be a far more effective trick if you could do it with your head!
