Hi,
Ive been doing magic for over a year untill I stopped for about 6 months. I've recently picked it up again after my friend showed me the No.2 pencil. I began searching into my repertoire of magic and I realised that I know way too many tricks but I've only perfected a few. Im trying to build a series or set of tricks that I can perform impromtu. I've been doing mainly card magic and a little bit of mentalismn.

I recently performed(very nervously) to my group of friends. Their reactionsrs to my tricks reminded me why I picked up magic in the first place. If youre interested in what I did, I started off with

1)Richard Osterlinds breakthrough card system, Which is honestly speaking, the closest thing you will ever come to mind reading.(PM me if you want my routine)

2) Ambitious card routine (I'm looking for a killer way to end this off, currently im doing a face up load and erdnase color change. If you have any products or dvds that teach good finishers please let me know)

3)Some card transposition trick, not really sure of its name.

4) 3 card monte story

5) 2 card monte
If they hand me a deck I do triumph instead of the BCS, or card sandwich.

Im looking for tricks that dont involve cards, using mainly everyday objects. I remember watching band shark, and using 4 tricks out of it. The only rubber band trick I remember is crazy mans handcuffs, And I dont want to perform and magic if I only know one trick. I remember doing a trick where you could show 2 rubber bands linked, then you physically break one rubber band, and show that theyre both still intact, unlinked. If you know a place to buy this trick or a dvd that contrains this trick, please let me know. Other than that, if you have any suggestions for tricks that I should get, just reply here. I'd greatly appreciate it!
cheers

Hello there

There are seemingly hundreds of variations on the broken and restored band effect. A load of of them are shown on Joe Rindfleisch's "Extreme Rubber Band Magic" DVD which also contains some other cool stuff. Some are impromptu, some require a small amount of setup, but you'll find a few on there that suit you.

Hmm sorry, I misread your post. With some of the broken and restored effects you could combine them with some linked band effects, but I haven't seen it combined as one marketed effect before

Vince Mendoza's "Found Link/Rhing Thing" could show bands linked then separated intact after breaking.

Welcome to TM and I'm glad to see another good introduction.

It makes a nice change to see someone who's putting some good thought into the types of magic that you like whilst looking for some variety.

Enjoy TM !

Thanks. I've been reading the reviews for Houchin's sinful. Can anyone tell me how "angle-y" the trick is? Cause I usually perform surrounded

It can be angly at times but if you watch the subtleties in the DVD you can easily cover this by asking the specs to stand back at some of the key moments as you don't want the tin to 'splash' them when you open.

I've never had any issues with people NOT following my instructions as it's a natural thing to happen and no-one wants to get 'splattered' with cola

alright thanks. So the only point where you could actually "flash" is when you open the can of soda? what about when you smack the coin into the can?

You flash the most in my opinion when you slam the coin into the can and then manouvre the can from one hand to another and at one further pint although not as much. I can't say as this may reveal part of the secret.

Hope that this helps but do buy the DVD as it's well worth it.
