could use some advice

joined talkmagic the other day after looking at the open pages for a couple of days....

first of all must say congratulations on having such an excellent place to find help in the often too closely guarded society of magic...seeing a place like this where people can come and collaborate is indeed refreshing..

secondly...I am doing a magic 'workshop' (god i hate that term) in work on thursday for 'learning at work day' or as it has been dubbed 'we cant be bothered looking at oodles of paper so give us something better to do day' and i was planning on showing a few coin tricks and a few card tricks to the other people ino my work - namely -

cros twist by paul harris
jokers wild by Oz Pearlman
fastest card trick in the world by jim pace. (if my references are wrong then i apologise)

then i was going to teach a few simple self working card tricks for people to impress their kids or what not....

i am looking for advice as to what tricks you think would suit this kind of event and in particular what coin tricks i should do...and if you think it unethical or unwise to teach some very very basic coin magic...

I have been doing magic seriously for about 6 months so personally i would say that i could cope with most sleights as long as they aren't extremely advanced... but obviously the easier the better so that i dont mess up in front of people...

any response is very much appreciated.... thank you for your time...

It seems good. I don't believe it unethical to teach some basic tricks - aslong as it isn't something that all magicians have in their arsenal such as ID, or the sinful coin in soda (though I doubt you would ;))

A trick I wouild recomend performing (if you know it) is jumping gemini. I personally love this trick and it is a fun effect to perform.

Good luck! and wlecome to the TM boards!

Love

Look at the tricks that you do best and select these for your performance.

For the 'teach in' but, go for the very simplest that you can find.

Good luck and it sounds like a great day.
