Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

..to go along the line taneous mentioned, you could always say that you occasionally have problems with the spirit of a dead gambler bothering you during your show, pulling out his favourite card or moving it about all the time...

...maybe then mix in an impromptu haunted deck too? the witchcraft one works well, as does the one i saw on the Devil's Picturebook, but can't remember where you can find this in print (if anywhere)...

...maybe then have some writing appearing on it at the end?

It's not an old thread!

The blank-faces idea reminds me of the AC routine from Pyrotechnic Pasteboards - it's brilliant but unfortunately I almost never perform it because it needs a double blank deck which I don't carry around. Very good routine though, ends with your signature being pulled off your card onto the spectator's.

Ta for all the handy feedback guys it's very helpful. I'm now swamped with ideas, all of them good, but I think I'll go with the haunted deck one and the card vanishing at the end. The spirit of the dead gambler is a good way to go about it, or maybe something to do with the card that they chose being one which I'd accidentally destroyed recently.

Anyway it's nice to see so much input on a newbie thread, I'll be putting it all together as soon as I get over this week's obsession with pushing coins into bottles and through glass etc.

Oh yeah one other ending I played with for a while was the one that Andy Nyman uses in his Svengali demo, when a battery pops out of the card. That's fun if you fancy carrying a battery around with you.
