Royal Monte

First big test of WMV encoding from my Mac, for all you Windoze users.

Heres Roy Waltons Royal Monte. Hope you enjoy.

I think this is an outstanding opener. You can engage someone on the subject of poker, give them a challenge, let them win, and then you finish up being able to move into any number of second effects. Outstanding!!!

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

 Considering my comments on your Queens routine, I'm only a little embarrassed.

Praise should be directed at Mr. Walton for another genius routine. I think I'll repost this later with better lighting. I'll also include some notes on presentation (in a dat8962 kinda way) as I have what I think is a cunning variation.

Glad you liked it!

It's good mate, but the handling needs to be a little smoother. The spreads are good, but maybe they could be done a little faster, and the dirty move looks a little suspect and could look more natural.

And just to be ridiculously pernickity and annoying, it's Roy-al Monte rather than Royal Monte, as there had been a few Royal Monte effects out before Walton published this. According to the book anyway :P

All the best,

:D I agree with you on the spread speed. Its the variation as taught in the text, so I'm still getting used to not doing the regular version. I doubt you could get it up to the speed of a regular spread though.. ? Anyway I like slow action; I'm modelling myself as the Eric Clapton of card magic. Or is that just an excuse?

As for the move, well I did this much more openly before and got caught on it . I've tightened it up a lot, and from what your saying "way too much"......... Having watched it again, your entirely right, I need to loosen up the handling and sort out my guilt management issues. Ta very much Will.

Oh Bo**ocks. My apologies to Mr. Walton. I really should revisited the text before putting the video up.

Is the according to the book anyway an accusation, Will? Don't take the p*ss; surely you know me better than that? Happy to post picture of me reading both volumes, yes at the same time!! :D

It wasn't meant to be an accusation, more of a toungue in cheek justification for me being a cheeky bu**er. But if you're offering to post a picture of you reading both volumes simultaneously, I'd like to see it!!

pretty cool effect...

i modified your routine by using my own patter and add reasoning for the 'moves' and it seems to work really well...like i added a little story type thing and had a little audience interaction...it works really well...I tried it out today and it got some great reactions...

maybe ill get around to posting it with the patter and everything

anyways good routine keep it up! :D
