Isn't all magic an act?

I quite like something about Criss Angels shows (and it's deffinately not the theme tune). I think it's the "showy" nature TBH but at the same time, Blaine isn't all bad.

Blaine is lame, and I'd diss Chris...

No, I'd probably choose chris just because I haven't seen very much of Blaines tricks at all, I only heard about him maybe a week ago, I watched some videos online and some of the tricks he did weren't that great (i.e. balducci levitation, which I've seen amatures do better). The only thing Chris has got goin' for him tho, is the fact that he's sort of a creepy character, with tricks that involve flesh piercing, and so on... people like that.

Seriously, do we need ANOTHER thread where Criss Angel is accused of using stooges for the majority of effects on his shows (which is a lie)? How many do we have? 50?

It's amazing how many people can't seem to stand him - yet also can't seem to stop talking about him...

Criss Angel is also a stooge in his performances.......the real magician is called "Camera Man". A new Magie from the Magic Castle of Hollywood.

David Blaine is really good when he isn't hanging in abox or playing "I'm a fish", yet Criss Angel, when actually performing magic, I believe is rather good as well. So basically, both have their good, and both have their bad points...

...isn't it the same with every person you know? Both good and bad points? so stop harpering on about the bad points and think of the good ones :D

Love

Chris

You are def. right! You should focus on the good and not the bad... I once heard somebody say (who knows if it's true or not) that the angels see what everybody does and they report what they see to god, but they never tell him the bad things we do, only the good- they focus on the positive- god already knows the bad things we do.

So just focus on the possitive aspects, I don't really like comparing to begin with, I'm sure they've both worked very hard to get where they are in life.

I think Blaine got A LOT of bad press from the magic community because he's made a fortune using age-old tricks that everyone knows about. He's done all kinds of lame things on TV specials like using an ID and using the balducci levitation. However, he's also done some very good sleights and effects as well. Whether or not Criss Angel uses stooges and actors is another matter, but he has created a unique levitation method which sets him apart in my opinion.

I'm not the biggest fan of the effect - but I would hardly refer to ID as "lame" in any way. Even though it's not my cup of tea, it's a massively powerful effect that kills without effort.

Sorry I would like to clarify my statement - I too find the ID to be a great effect - I just find it lame to be used on a TV special. In other words - if your going to be a famous magician on TV and have hundreds of thousands of aspiring street magicians want to be like you - come up with something new or do something different!

That's cool.

As the saying goes - if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ID is a great tool for a street magician. It's great for any style, really. Perhaps I should wipe the dust off and have some fun with it...
