Everything under the sun has been done before you do it... the trick is to do it for those who haven't seen how it's been done before... take for example that coin trick I posted, it was nothing special, and many (if not ALL) of you knew exactly how I did it, but I showed it to a friend who knows nothing about magic, and he spent the longest time trying to figure it out before he gave up. So even though you are the only person who you've seen do that trick, you probably aren't the only person who's done it... but that doesn't matter at all, all of the famous magicians you see out there today are doing tricks that have been done for years, it's all in the act, and you are a very good actor :)

Yes, when you think how long magic has been around, the chance of you coming up with something 100% original is very small, the chance of changing the handleing slightly is an improved chance, a new gimmick even better but even a new sleight has quite possibley been used by someone before.
Originality is in presentation and characther IMHO
