New Cards

Postby rabbit » Jun 15th, '06, 17:05

I just got my new ghost and black tigers that I bought on ebay! I was so blown away by how smoothly the cards came apart! After playing with my old deck of cards I could almost not handle these new ones because of how slippery they are  My old cards were some no-name cards I found in a desk at my house, and they were all dirty and would stick together so bad that I ruined 90% of the tricks I tried to do with them, not to mention they were very thin and bent too easily... but these new cards are just great!

Anywho... just thought I'd let you know because I'm very excited and happy... k bye! 8)

Oh the joy of a new pack of Black Tigers and Ghosts verry buttery, hint wash your hands before you handle them every time and dont use them with sweaty hands, they will last longer......

but give it 6 weeks and they will feel like your old deck

I made my wife dissapear just by arguing with her!!!

I'll tell you what, I've been using the same Ghost pack for about 4 or 5 months now and they still feel nice, I've got a spare but I haven't even opened it!

My only problem is my Gaff Deck box, I use it loads and it now looks ancient. I love it to bits (literally), but not sure I want to buy a whole fresh gaff deck just for this one effect when it eventually crumbles into dust...

Being new to this caper, I was wondering if new cards need to be "broken in" (so to speak) and if so how to do it (spreads, riffles etc)

Cheers

ive been wondering are there any good products for preseving a deck. My main problem with used decks even the ghosts and black tigers is that my fanning gets pretty ugly as the deck gets lets smooth, is this a common problem or do i need to practice more cause with a new deck my fan is near perfect. The strange thing is that if i use a deck a lot at one time it will get clumpy and then if i don't use it for a couple of days it will smoothen out again and feel much better is this also common?

A lot of people break them in with a few hours working, stretching gently back and forth, etc. Personally, I prefer a sharp, pristine deck straight out of the cellophane.

A few overhand shuffles is good enough for me

I second the washing hands part. Ever since I've been into cards, my hands have never been cleaner . I prefer the deck being broken-in, so to say, because I find that a bit softer cards are easier to DL/palm, etc.

I practice fanning with new decks, cuts with old decks and perform tricks with middle aged decks. I think that makes sense. So that means I leave my pack of ghosts untouched because I don't want them to be middle-aged :(!
