Name: Card Attack
Price: £18.99
Type: Card
Examination Time: 30 mins
Reset: 1 min (Away from Audience)
Examinable: Definately not
Skill Level: Novice/Intermediate
Additional material needed: Red backed bicycle poker deck (not supplied with effect)
Effect: A Spectator chooses a card from the deck
remembers it and returns this to the deck, shuffles the deck and finally returns the deck in to its case, which is set aside. The magician doesn't touch the deck ay all after the card has been chosen.
The magician takes out two other cards and shows them both sides and they have a large hole in the center of them. He places both cards on table in shape of an X so that the table is clearly seen through the holes. he asks the spectator to visualise their card inside the holes.
The magician asks if they can mentally see their card, they obviously can't, the magician snaps his fingers and the chosen card suddenly appears sandwiched between both cards right before the spectators eyes.
Personal Comments: I could not wait to get this effect after reading uts description but unfortunately it sounds better in theory than it actually works in practice.
The gimmicks you get with it are superbly made but you cannot clearly show both sides and when you are making the chosen card appear it, in my opinion is too obvious to the spectator where the card came from, on top of this after the illusion you have to immeadiately scoop up the cards and get the heat off them straight away so the spectator cannot examine them.
Overall Judgement: Brilliant idea, superbly made gimmick but the whole concept needs a little more thought, worth a look at though.
