TM is in some ways a victim of it's own success. Because of the high google rating and vast library of reviews when people type how do I do this trick or that trick into Google, TM usually pops up. This increases the huge amounts of people using the site who have no interest in actually making valid contributions to it...
What to do about it? I don't know. I really like this forum, I feel far more at home here than I do on any of the other forums. So to me I'm content to put up with the idiot posts as long as TM remains a friendly and welcoming place...

I almost enjoy these idiots on the Forum. I always read the Sin Bin for a laugh. At least we know that they are usually off the boards quite quickly.

I'm not sure that it's because we don't have much to say. Perhaps it's that some don't have the time and there are jsut more and more posts to now get through when you log on.

I remember when I joined I could log on and find half a page of new and updated posts over a 24 hour period. Now it's more like a page and a half.

percentage wise there's probably the same amount of newbie posts that don;t really say too much but they still take time to readm, leaving less time for the more in depth posts that are the usual from the time served membership.

Just a thought

I pretty much ignore the file sharing, and occasionally look into the introductions room to count the number of usernames that have never posted anywhere else on the forum.

I used to read every single thread, now I don't read more than about half (I do look at most to see if I can get away with deleting them though!)

To be honest I almost never go into the Introductions section anymore - all the threads seem pretty much the same to me.

"Hi, I'm _______ and I want to learn magic. Ive been doing it sinse I wuz 13 and I really luv it." etc...

I know. One thing that annoys me as well are these really short reviews that don't really give you much information at all and don't follow the Review Template at all.

Oh, and for the record - I've just counted the number of locked posts since Monday June 15th and came up with a record number of 15. 15 in one week! When I joined, which wasn't actually that long ago now, I hardly ever saw a locked post and was quite surprised when I did.

Still, the majority of those posts were pointless ones and are now quite rightly in the Sin Bin Room. But still, it just goes to show you.

I do exactly what nickj does, and agree entirely with dat. I'm a selective reader now, and it's a shame.

Is it possible thought that a Sin Bin has merely highlighted the problem and it isn't much wors - threads alos get locked due to repetition and the search function is pretty hard to use now.

iu agree with Flash, as well. Also, I try to go to the introduction section because

a) it's hypocritical to tell newcomers to post an introduction which i won't read

b) I like the fact that TM is welcomng and I'd like to be one of the welcoming people.

Can anyone expand on these Search Function problems? I use it several times a day and it's working fine as far as I can see. If it's a question of a Search returning too many hits then that's something else but, apart from the odd occasion when the Forum has had techie problems, the Search function does what it does very well indeed.

Try searching "m5" There's plenty of posts containing the term but apprently no search results (might be because the search term logger only counts words longer than three letters I suppose)

Also would it be possible to have a feature that allows you to search titles of threads? This would make the function far more useful (imho).

It's fine if you know exactly what you're looking for though I searched (in reviews only " Color Changes by Jay Noblezda" and didn't get anything untill I remembered who wrote the review
