Just a bit of a rant this evening...

Took dog for a walk over to the local fields and I pass two shops on my way. 3 sets of kids asked me to buy them "fags" and when I replied no they became almost agressive shouting, theatining and just very rude. I live in a area full of mainly old people and everyone is very nice but just recently there has been a lot of younger people asking everyone who passes them to buy them "fags and booze" or saying things like "oh mate ya know were I's can get a fix". When I was there age, not that many years ago I don't think I knew anyone like this.

I know there are some younger members on this forum and please please don't think I am saying all young people are rude or anything like that it. I know most arn't.

Several people have mentioned things like this. Terrible.

They really annoy me! They are all younger than me but 13!

Haha this reminds me of too many times walking past a local Petrol station! I get asked by young kids to but cigarettes for them. I say no simply because i know that local police often fill their cars up there. It really p****s them off when i go into buy some for myself!

But my point is i could get in like serious trouble for buying for them. Why should i put myself in that position for a bunch of kids who ive never seen before?

Totally agree with you I am not ending up in trouble so some kids can smoke or drink.

Im also totally shocked that they actually threatened you! I mean, i get 'the cravings' and whatever, but i dont go threatening people! Its like they've turned 13, puberty has just hit, and they've been hit with the unquenchable thirst for cigarettes and alcohol! What makes me think is how they got the impression that they can do this kind of thing and get away with it!

It is really horrible. They come out with things like "I'm going to find out where you live and egg your house" that I do not mind as much because its just silly kid talk but when they come out with "your goingto be sorry, watch your back" or "if i was you don't go to sleep tonight" it gets a little scary.

See? In America, kids just beat you up.

This isn't recent, not around here anyway. High school kids have been asking me to buy them cigarettes since I left myself, three years ago. I never buy anything for anyone who can't buy it for themselves, unless I know for a fact they are over 16 (local shops won't serve people in school uniform, yet some year 11s are 16+.)

If I don't have ID, I have to get my mum to get my smokes. I get IDed even at 19.

But yeah, being insulted for not breaking the law is frustrating and annoying to say the least.

You could always stop smoking Then you wouldn't need to get an id card

Smoking is a horrible habit, and it makes you stink like s***. I have never tried one, and I don't ever plan to.

It makes you smell horrible, can damage teeth/guma give you lung cancer, can give others lung cancer there is so much that can go wrong!

I assume you have absolutely no bad habits whatsoever then Kev?
Saying that all smokers stink like "s***" is a judgmental generalisation.

Good for you for not trying/planning on trying cigarettes.
It doesn't mean that smokers all suck though.


Sorry, it's off topic. But hating smoking has become a cultural thing lately, it's always got bad press so people are always going on about it.
And people who make judgments and generalisations like that tick me right off...

Oh well, they're my lungs. If I die of lung cancer that's my problem, right?

I think we all know the bad effects smoking can have on your health. And if you can't understand that it might kill you, then you shouldn't be smoking. Just like you shouldn't drink excessively if you can't accept liver damage.

Like I said, my life, my lungs. I don't care what your opinion on it is really.
