Us English make me laugh... too hot , too cold... we don't know the meaning of the words...
Try living in Canada..40 plus summers and down too -40 winters... and do they complain? .. well yes, but they cope.. same as we will have too cause yes your right We've got global warming!.....

Do you think they said that in the ice age when it got hotter than -40?
Mother nature will do what she wants with the weather and Man can just look on.....
You might remember a scientist named David Belemy... ever wondered why you don't hear of him these days?
Thats because he took a stand against all this utter rubbish about how "we" are causing it... and the people who stand to make buckets of money out the the "crisis" don't like that things like that....
Look up the facts on global warming and get used to the fact that it will get hotter/colder and there is Sod all we can do about it.

As for being too hot.. get some air conditioning now whilst the prices are resonable, give it another 10 years and you will all be wondering what it like before we all had it.

Actually, there is still time to do something about Global Warming. Buch such is the curse of hindsight. Probably not enough to undo 100 year's or so of pollution. I do not believe that man cannot be blamed for what is going on though.

Interesting point about Canada...but then I guess it all comes down to what you grow up experiencing. Hence the reason why such weather like this is hot for us.

But thankfully a temporary release from all of this hot weather - thunder storms are on the way.

Lets think about that statment for a second... Mmmm 100 years of pollution... and the earth is how old?
Really, look up the scientific results of what man pumps into the atmosphere compared to what nature manages all on her own and then tell me whatever we do will have any impact at all on whats happening..

Sorry to rant but this is one of my pet hates, based on the fact I've been hearing it for the last 22 years due to my job but have always found it somewhat suspect that we were hearing the full story..

...its gonna be 32 degrees today in London, and 20 at night, then we have some lovely thunderstorms....and a drop of 5 degrees...

...i was born with asthma; i get hayfever, eczema and various allergies too...me and summer dont get on...in fact, we're not even on speaking terms...

..the thing i hate is being stuck on the Underground, boiling, yet more and more idiots pile on, all honking of b.o., and refusing to take their backpacks off - not realising that it would create a little more space..cretins...

Man I hate those people who are always saying 'I wish it was sunnier and warmer' when it's like 18 C.
Now they have their sun and now they're complaining it is too hot.
I'm glad you guys aren't like that.

I think a temperature of 18 C is good enough, but there's nothing we can do now.

By the way, I went to the beach here in Holland 2 days ago and burnt my feet :o
Putting on socks or shoes isn't funny then...

That would be a nice temperature...right now at the moment there is a cool breeze coming in through the window, which is nice.

I found the following:

http://yosemite.epa.gov/OAR/globalwarmi ... il.html#q4

The 31% increase in atmospheric CO2 observed since pre-industrial times cannot be explained by natural causes. CO2 concentrations have varied naturally throughout Earth's history. However, CO2 concentrations are now likely higher than any seen in at least 420,000 years.

Mmm today is just right. Lovely breeze.

 Listened to that Underground song you posted last night AJ82, we must have played it about five times. Because we're sad and easily amused. I looked on their site and listened to 'Northern Birds' as well

Hmm, global warming eh?

I don't deny that man has had an impact on the levels of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere but I think there is a fair body of evidence to show that solar activity is of more importance.

Solar activity runs on an approximate 11 year cycle from high to low activity, and this cycle is followed very closely by deviation of the sea surface temperature from its mean [1]. There is also a 70 - 100 year cycle of magnitude of the peaks of solar activity on top of the 11 year cycle, and again, the average temperature follows the trend closely.

Furthermore, it is seen that during slightly shorter solar activity cycles the surface air temperature of the northern hemisphere is higher than during the slightly longer cycles.[2]

I think that the whole subject is far more complex than certain emvironmental pressure groups might have us believe! (I still think that we should try to reduce greenhouse gas emission though, every little helps!)

Cogito, ergo sum.

I really think you need to see the film and read the book "An Inconvenient Truth" Nickj... Al Gore addresses the cyclic explanations and more... very informative!

Too, it's been in the past two weeks I believe that the top Scientists of the U.S. held a news conference essentially stating that tons of misinformation has been spread by so-called scientists who have their paychecks signed by companies like Exxon... bottom line is Global Warming is happening 99% of the established and most acredited scientific and ecological research professionals are in agreement on this and it has NOTHING to do with the cycles of things and everything to do with humankind's attitude that everything is consumable and disposable.

Innocently and ignorantly we are destroying our earth. :?

Whatever the original cause, no one, not even that idiot Bush, can deny that the ice caps are melting and the oceans are rising and getting bigger. Being white, ice reflects infra red radiation (heat, in other words) back into space. The ocean is dark and absorbs heat. bigger ocean surface area means more trapped heat and faster melting in turn. The process is accelerating, in other words. We're in trouble, big style.

Polar bears are moving south to find food and coming into deadly contact with high-fat fast food and people. Foreign species are invading Antarctica according to this week's New Scientist, because it's now warm enough for them.

The warming oceans are also beginning play merry hell with oceanic processes that we rely on to make life bearable without massive amounts of extra energy. The Atlantic Conveyer (the Gulf Stream) that keeps the Western seaboard of Europe relatively mild is failing. Hurricanes are getting stronger, more frequent and moving further north. New York is expected to flood to the tune of 200 square km, displacing a million people. Whatever natural fluctuations there are, we've helped to overcook things by pumping out greenhouse gasses that started the melting.

This is the only planet that exists within the "Goldilocks zone" that exists roughly 93 million miles from Sol - that is, not too hot, not too cold. Mars? No atmosphere and too cold. Venus? Too hot and has an atmosphere of sulphuric acid. The Moon? Too small to hold a natural atmosphere. Giant space arks? Give me a break. We're stuck here.

Funny thng is, when we're gone, the planet itself will go on without us, and in time will forget we were ever even here.
