virginia mkenna was lovely. It was one of the few times i was aware of being star struck. And it was through her that i nearly met Yul Brynner !
Davd Jacobs was a sweety,
Richard Adams.( writer of watership down) what a nice guy.
Rolf Haris. Also a genuinly nice man, and local to me.
Johnny Ball . a chidhood hero for a generation, and so very down to earth.
Richard Noble, speed ace. Barmy, but brilliant. Hes got the right stuff.
Frankie Howerd. he was A true one off, and a genuine comic genius.
Patrick cargill. I dint like him. old men and youngish blonde boys dont mix.
Kenny Lynch.. Nice guy.
Faith Brown. Lovely lady, very enthusiastic.
Cilla black. A bit erm, snobbish .not a fan.
Michael Barymore. He was with his late wife when i met him. I wasnt surprised of his secret life. a bitter and twisted soul that.
Harry Seacombe. Shortly before his death. what a fantastic man. very friendly.
Leo Sayer.A bit up himself, but oneof teh best performances ive ever seen. Man he can control a room.
John Virgo. Like him. No airs and graces.
Souxie and the banshees. The group are all so very nice. Souxie in particular.
Timmy Mallet. Supports any local cause with gusto, but heckles like crazy.Nice to meet, a bug*er to perform for.
Kate Garraway. I got to kiss her on the cheek. But then i was dressed in full panto dame costume, presenting her with a bunch of flowers.
Mark Owen. Just after he won celeb big brother, geez what a lovelyman.
Gary Oldman. quiet and unassuming, and a great name to drop into converstaions.

Oh, I corresponded sporadically with John Cleese for a few years in the late '70s and/or early '80s.

yeah it was in a toilet, i was drunk and said "bloody hell, you look like Chesney Hawkes" and it turns out it was him. I then said "but you look exactly the same as you did when you were famous, you havent aged at all" and he said thanks and went..ha ha

but to my utter joy, the beach party i was at had him performing ALL hist hits, he also did an amazing version of John Lennon's Imagine...oh yes.

ok. My mate lived in the house that they used as his house, on the film the one and only.

Its on long furlong drive, on the Britwell estate,( which was where 90% of the film was shot) in slough. right next to Kenedy park. which was the park i used to walk my old dog Judy.

and Chesneys dad Chip, lived just around the corner from me, and that house.
and the pub scenes in the film, were all shot in the Jolly Londener pub on wentworth avenue, which is right next door to my doctors.

and one of the days they filmed there, ( daltry wasnt around at the time) i had to go to the doctors with a water works infection.
