ok i am new and just about average and magi mostly card stuff etc i have just purchased the raven gimmick/device

however i am reading mixed reviews on this site.


could peopl either post or pm regarding their views and why or why not.

The Raven is an issue that has been discussed so many times on TM. I think it is a one trick pony. It does one real quite well but not much else. The raven does nothing that you cannot do with sleight of hand. I feel the beginner would gain much more benefit from buying "modern coin magic" by bobo. The book is cheap and will teach you a lot more about coin magic than the raven ever could.

The time you have purchased the Raven you could have got two good magic books. Gimmicks are ok to a point and even i use them on occassion. But they do not teach you anything about magic nor do you learn any great skills. I really think you would be better off with a good book or a DVD. I had one once and hardly ever used it, in fact i think i used it twice and went back to the old method of doing similar effects.
