Loops

Postby bronz » Jul 9th, '06, 13:24

A quick question for anyone who works with loops, do they get stretchier after they've been handled a bit? I bought 5 yesterday and within an hour (literally) I'd broken 4 of them. I was very annoyed as I was trying to be as gentle as possible but they just snapped on me as soon as I stretched them anywhere near the 25cm the packet tells you they can tolerate. I've seen someone do a trick with one loop where it's stretched to at least twice that distance so I know it's possible, but am I going to have to break them in gently for a while to get them stretchy enough?

It's a knack that you pick up through practice in my opinion. Sometimes it's not how far you stretch, it's the speed at which you stretch.

Ok ta I'll bear that in mind. It could be something to do with that batch aswell, the first ones I got about a month ago seemed a nit more resilient. I do think they're very handy pieces of kit to have around so I'll persevere.

loops...I usually get the cheaper version s from davenports for £3.50 as opposed to the £9.00 for the official ones(still get 5, but thinner thread), but the other day they saved my bacon with a pack of the mesika specials.....yes, they are stronger and I have managed to get 2 nights use out of one (still useable btw), but they are I noticed a lot more visible, although in a club stlil pretty much invisible and yes, far far stronger.
My main use for these being simple card levitations, the cheaper ones are usually sufficient, however, the mesika ones have lasted longer but need more care to avoid being caught out ;)

not a fan of sigs, so I won't bother adding o..... oh

If you use loops quite a bit I heartily recommend the Stealth loops system that you can get a download from NUMS website.
The download shows you a very very easy way of making your own loops fast and of course well cheaper. once you have bought some IT (about 10 quid) you can make a 100 loops or so.

Cheap as chips!
