Name That Trick.

OK I am hoping that all you wonderfully intelligent people can help me out with a slight problem I'm having. I was going through some old tapes I have of specials on television and saw a trick performed that I really loved and had forgotten about for all these years.

So what I am hoping is that someone can point me in the right direction as to where to find the teaching for this trick. So anyway here is the description of the trick: First the performer asks a spectator if they have a napkin or kleenex or a peice of paper etc. Then he asks them to tear off a tiny peice and roll it into a ball. They then proceed to drop said crumpled ball into a glass. The magician then takes the glass and starts to swirl it around, as one does to release the aroma of wine. At first you see and hear nothing when all of a sudden the paper starts to rattle. THe magician stops and the small peice of paper has turned into an egg.

Its a great trick and I would like to know offcially where this trick came from. I hope you guys can help.

I know something like it and I believe it is done the same way.
the trick I know was done by McBride on his stage magic DVD, in that trick a white leaf of a flower or a piece of white paper in bounced on a fan and slowly begins to take volume until it visually turns into an egg (live one).

You can find what you need here:

For the performance itself I can only direct you to McBride's DVD it's the only place I know of where you can find the hole routine and how to perform it.

I believe the effect you're actually looking for is The Egg by Keith Lack

This sounds more like what you were thinking of. I've been thinking of getting this, myself. Hope this helps.

AS it sounds it uses the same method (or the same gaff if you wish).

Demitri is correct, what you're speaking of is The Egg. It's a fantastic effect, but I do believe I read somewhere a review that it was 'self working'—which is a bit of a white lie, as there is quite a lot of 'work' to do, especially if you choose to take the kicker ending route of cracking the egg...

Ahhh seige you are right, I forgot to add that he cracks the egg into the cup to show that it is a real egg. I would also like to thank every one for thier help. What are the odds that the trick is called the egg.

i know that this problem has been resolved, but i saw somone selling an egg skin for £14.38. well, for only about £7 you should get the magic handbook, which will tell you how to make egg skins. i would just tell how to make it but i am not sure if that would be considered exposure.
