Paul Daniels Cups and Balls

Postby andydavis293 » Jul 14th, '06, 23:40

I remember along time ago seeing Paul Daniels perform a cups and balls routine on national TV in the UK, It of course had suprise jumbo load endings, but what made it such a good effect was Paul Daniels himself, in my mind he was a brilliant performer and this is one of the best cups and balls routine I have ever seen (again because of his performance rather than his skill)

Anyway, although the internet is vast I have yet to find anywhere that has the video clip of him performing this and wonder if anyone knows where it can be found.

Before I get people shouting at me, i am not trying to find out an instructional video for this, what I am after is seeing the performance again, to take me back to how magic should be, one of the only sad things about doing magic is I think we lose the "wow" factor when we see something purely brilliant.

Hope someone can help me find this bit of magic mastery

Many thanks

Andy

Always a pleasure to watch and hopefully someone will know where to find a clip. Not just because of the performance, but also because Daniels is reputed to be one of the most, if not the most skillful cups and balls performer in the world.

I think it was part of his "Bunko Booth" sideshow section of the show.

Sheer genius.

Try Paul's official website, he has some classic clips from His TV show on there and sells his live DVD. Paul is one of my favourite performers (and Debbie is so lovely :D)

I've just been having a look at Youtube for clips of him. This one caught my eye:

Okay, he cuts the delightful Debbie in half, and it's cheesy and angle-sensitive, but wait for what happens after the slaves carry her off...

Paul Daniels Cups & Balls.

Postby Allen Tipton » Jul 21st, '06, 19:19

:) Andy D. Do you mean PD's brilliant Chop Cup routine with one cup and one ball? If so buy Paul Daniels Live in Edinburgh DVD..from his site. It's the first trick on there. Watch how our greatest magical entertainer since David Devant holds an audience of all sorts of races, colours and undoubtedly creeds, totally captive. He opened his show for us at the Nottingham Guild of magicians Gala Night last year and just slayed a predominantly lay audience.
The Chop Cup routine doesn't vary by even a single word or action (that's why I say script the routine) and is honed over many years performances.

By far the best way to see Paul's Chop Cup routine is live and in cabaret if you can manage it. The recorded versions are excellent but his live shows include that certain something which sets Paul's routine well apart from all others.

And, just as a reminder, he's at the Ipswich Convention in October.
All day.
Close up.
Lecturing.
Performing in the evening Gala Show.

If necessary, sell your Granny to raise the bus fare to Ipswich or start hitch hiking now. You won’t be disappointed.

I saw PD do this in his one man "An Audience with Paul Daniels" show a couple of years back abslutley brill it was.

I do a version of Terry Guyatts routine with one cup, not gimmicked, you can use any cup anything small enough to be a ball (olives grapes etc.) and then an approriate final load. Check out his video if you can get hold of one.
