Hot shot cut grip?

Postby Rich Lehmann » Jul 15th, '06, 08:25

Someone showed me the hot shot cut (by Darryl I think) by holding the cards between my index and middle finger and the using the thumb to cut the cards and swing them around the index and under the back. My question is this. If I am doing this correctly, there doesnt seem to be any advantage to the awkward 2 finger grip over say using the index and ring finger on each side and the middle bracing the top. It's easier on the hand, the pack stays tighter, the pinky alone can easily do the job the pinky and ring were doing with the 2 finger grip and most important the cards end in the starting position much easier.

Am I over looking something or losing something by not doing it this way instead of with the 2 finger grip :?:

If it works for you in another way then fine.

Although I'm not 100% sure of what you're saying that you're having difficulty or just making a comment?

If you hold the cards using the index and ring finger then you may not have enough grip on the deck when you've cut the deck and use the middle finger to shoot the card out.

I've tried it the way that you suggest and it doesn't work for me.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Yeah

You have described the method i use. I think i got it from Paul Harris, i think his version is similar.

As already said, as long as your confident with your method, its the same ending!
