New to site - runner not a walker

Hi all

I am 25. I started learning Magic in March after I came across the ellusionist site purely by mistake. I was always interested in magic but never had any intention to learn but I bought the DVD's I had seen there off ebay. My days.. I amazed myself. I pretty much stick to ACR, 2 card monte and a very short coin routine (raven, bitten coin, revolution). I also love body manipulation ( disjointed, saw ). I have some ideas for some stuff but I need to learn so much before I start to create.I want to learn so much more and take it up professionally. I did run before learning to walk as the first thing I studied was the ninja series to learn the pass.

I realise that it is much better to buy books than dvd's. Im just at a loss as to which ones to buy. i would like to get as much study material as possible without spending a fortune.

I intend to put a lot of time into this and to make it a proffesion even if it is just part time as I have just got married and the extra income would help. I just would like help with finding the best sources. I cant even find a magic shop where I live ( Nottingham & birmingham ). I would like to join a magic circle to learn more but again, at a loss how/where?

My style in magic will cards, coins and a 'darker' side of magic.

I am patient though so ... baby steps///

By darker side, do you mean mentalism? in that case, you could do a lot worse than starting with "13 Step to Mentalism" by Tony Corinda.

welcome to TM. By darker do you mean bizarre magic, oh and to join the magic circle you have to have two members nominate you who have known you for a while and you need to pass an audition.

yeh mentalism.. i love that too. I do the ID and want to do mind reading, hypnotic suggestion etc. best mentalism/suggestion books?

By darker side, I mean like bizarre things, body contortions (illusions) etc.. i love the saw effect and disjointed these get GREAT reactions, i plan to find a way to 'slice my veins in my arms and pull out the gunk' then with a flash of a hanky, all dandy. My mond works this way.. and while I realise this particular effect would take some work, effects like these make me want to pursue this darker side as I call it.

Welcome to the Talk Magic forums! For a more darker side of things, you may want to look into the book Swami Mantra. It's got all kinds of SHOCK magic in there. Here is the link for it: Swami Mantra

Where abouts do you live

This link should help. I should hopefully be joining either Derby or Nottingham myself soon
