Thought about trick decks

Postby PickAnyCard » Jul 19th, '06, 20:51

Just wanted some feedback on this. Now for start, I have allmost done every card trick with a regular deck. But I have bought a stripper deck and Iam of course happy about it. But is there anyone else that feels having a stripper, svengali etc that it is very wide things u can do without doing any sleights? I mean, it feels to simple. I must maybe sit down and go over and over with a regular deck for one trick, whilse with a stripper deck Idont have to sit down, just pick it up and do it. U know what I mean? Just the simpleness is so big.

Just wanted some understanding so I can get over this fear, caus I really want to use the stripper deck without thinking: "Well this is SO simple with this deck, Idont have to practice hard moves with a regular deck."

my first deck was a stripper, actualy a stripper and something else so iv'e never used a real deck except for impromtu tricks with a borrowed deck.

most people get exposed to card magic so thats generaly were they start for me it was coin's, over the years i have learnt a few card sleights and controls but if i have a stripper deck which i genaraly do i'll use its properties rather than a sleight.

on a performance side if your covered by the deck then you can concentrate on the performance rather than worring about getting the card controlled to the top etc but thats the diference between performing for pay were you wan't it as easy and foolproof as possible than performing for the joy, which you can be paid for, were you are pleasing yourself with your ability.

not sure it answers any of your yet to be voiced questions but may give others food for thought. :?: :P

if you've done EVERY trick with a normal deck then why do you need to use strippers etc?..you must have a reportiore of a few thousand effects already

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Do you know how many variations of card magic there are. To say you have done nearly every one is not likely.

You can go a lot deeper with a stripper deck than most people ever imagine, into sleights and other techniques that you simply can't do with a normal deck. But you can combine the two disciplines so that you create something very strong. The information the deck throws off for free is amazing, and yet concealed in plain sight. I'm currently collating stuff for a second, more advanced, far deeper volume of stuff. Well, it'll be the second volume when NUMS finally publishes the first, introductory one.

So, basically, just use it dude. Focus on building the best effects with it.

After all, shoe laces don't just tie themselves without help you know  To a very great extent, it's what you make with the tools you have that's important, not the tools themselves.
