Well that was quite an interesting read Seige. I must say though, I'm not doing this to wow the magic community. Like I said, I'm still a beginner. I'm mainly trying to show that you dont need lots of money to do a good illusion. Obviously I'm not going to be trying this in an uncontrolled impromptu situation. There WILL be some people in on the trick but not everyone will be.

The effect I'm looking for is similar to Criss Angels but also a little less serious. I'm going to make it entertaining, not "OH MY GOD HE'S SO MAGICAL AND MYSTERIOUS!". I'm also going to throw in a few more convincers than he did to show that I'm actually walking on water.. because it is actually possible when you magic :D

Although if I cant convince a local leisure centre to let me do this, then i'll just do it at my friends. It wont be as convincing I dont think, but it'll still be good nonetheless :D

This might be done next week.. it might be 2 months. I dont know yet as I'm still working on it.. but hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later!

Sorry to bring up this old thread, but i just saw this clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9mkkwJSZ7Q&mode=related&search=

and i was pretty impressed. Ways that i can think of for you to improve it could be to walk halfway across the pool, and then drop in. Completely underwater. And then rise back up and walk to the side! Figure out how to do that and you'd make some money IMO!

I like the creativity in the posts. and agree with alot of what Seige said.

I'm Looking forward to seeing this vid or what you come up with when it gets done, BizKiTRoAcH.

The only scale I could imagine this being impressive on is to do it on a boating lake, or other area, as an impromptu... wait until a crowd gathers around a sporting jetty, or somesuch, and proceed to walk on the water. Now that WOULD be nice.

I had thought about this as well a few years ago. Never took the plung so to speak, but I live on a lake and alot of my neighbors gather out in front of our place in the summer. Just anchor their boats, play tunes, drink and have a good time while my next door neighbors hand out on their docks.

Since most that know me, know I do magic... I would love to tackle this at some point.

Stand up out in my boat on the Dog house (have an inboard ski boat).. do a few tricks for the boaters around me, then maybe say I'll do one more... Opps. my XXX is over in Scotts Boat...

Stand up.. head to the back of the boat, get on the swim platform and proceed to "walk" over to Scotts platform/boat.

In my dreams I can see it.. Maybe someday it'll come to life.

I wish I knew more about how to load up files, etc. I've got footage of Franz Harrary's Water Walk/Levitation that would fry your mind...

BTW... someone brought up the idea of splitting a person in half the other day... UTube has copies of the old David Copperfield episodes, watch the first one (the ABC Tv Network Fall line-up special) and you will see him do his splitting in half with Donnie & Marie Osmond.

I was looking forward to seeing him perform this. I wonder if he's decided not to

me!?

The only reason I havent done this yet is money. Even a low-budget version of this isnt that cheap :(

There are cheap ways of doing it but the ways I can afford wont look very good. I already have the plans down on paper aswell as a bit of patter before the trick written down.. but for now they just have to sit here in my magic folder and wait until I start working harder to be able to afford some of the materials I need :P

That is a VERY good idea, i'll add that to my plans and when I can afford to do it, i'll give you credit for that part :D

Hey, I am keen to do a PR stunt with someone walking on water. Would you be able to do this?

I think it would be amazing!!

The only thing I would ask of you is to walk on the water, rather than ballance on the water.

Angel's trick would be better titled "Ballancing on water," which is what he appeared to be doing.

By the way, Ric Ocasek did the trick in an '80s video (not camera trickery) and more recently Jackie Chan did it in "The Tuxedo" (again, not camera tickery - but the explanation for his "trick" was quickly forthcoming in the movie).

Mike.

I'm relatively new to magic, and I concentrate more on close up anyways, but for a reason to go onto the water, I had a couple ideas. Maybe you could be doing a card trick at the side of the pool. "Accidentally" shoot/drop their card (or any other prop you may want to work with) and have it float on the surface of the water. Let it flow towards the center of the pool, then casually walk towards it "losing" you sandal on the way (a convincer, I guess.) and retrieve it. Walk slowly to make sure people notice (you don't want to put that much effort into it just to have no one notice :!: ).

If it doesn't fit your style, or if the method won't allow it, don't sue me, your own presentation would probably work better for you anyways.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

Ooh, this sounds like a great idea! Can't wait to hear how it turns out! I'vehad some ideas of how to perform the trick myself, but never really thought very deeply into them. If all goes well for you, I might just try it myself. :D
