Ambitious Card Routine

Postby fireshower » Jul 21st, '06, 19:07

Here we go guys, finally, a video of mine which doesn't revolve around passing. It's a feeble attempt at making the boring ACR a bit more...exciting. It's not the same thing over and over (I think).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca2cE21VR_Q

It's messy and short, sorry about the numerous flaws.

Things that should be pointed out which I already know are terrible.

1. The Diagonal Palm Shift makes a huge scratching noise which gives away the motion, plus you can clearly see my pointer finger leave the deck.

2. My Diagonal Insertion (sheesh, I must be diagonally challenged) is clearly visible from the side.

[Edit] 3. The tilt is REALLY bad [End Edit]

Anything ELSE you guys notice, feel free to point out

Some good stuff in there. The set up for the tilt was very obvious though and i didnt really get the full feeling of depth.

Hope that helps

I actually thought the diagonal shift was pretty okay. The pass was good, I think the erdnase colour change needs abit of work, I think theres a point when your fingers curl and its quite obvious that youre using the back of your hand to do something.
And for the depth insertion illusion(Im not sure the exact name) I think you should pause a moment and show that the card is truly in the middle(to them)

Yeah, I watched my video one more time and I must say, that tilt is quite poor. Thanks for the message infinity, it helps.

This morning I was thinking something along the lines of...

Ok, I have all these color changes and sleights that I can use...what am I supposed to do with them now.

Then I thought Ambitious Card Routine with a more visual twist. I did 2 or 3 test runs and then filmed what you see there.

So it's actually VERY improvised (I rarely use the same routine twice, I just do what feels right)

Hi --

The main thing that struck me when I watched it is that you seem to be very tense on all of the moves. A lot of them are done too fast and not relaxed enough - try to slow everything down to at least half the speed you are doing it at and see if it seems better to you.

Also, the card was bent ;).

Very nicely done though, and more interesting than the standard ACR

I like the idea but you should slow down a bit with the moves and try to make it more convincing. I agree on the bad preparation for the tilt comments, and the first part of the Erdnase cc was also performed a bit strange. Overall it looks like a nice effect.

It's pretty good, but for some reason I am not sure if I liked the way you add erdnase change into a AC routine. But that might be just me. Also, if I were you, I would work on the smoothness of handling cards. You seem a little bit "stiff" sometimes, and if you could work on that, not only the ac routine, but all other routines would look much better.

Good work.
