Magic......the gathering

Hey, really random, but I was wondering if anyone here plays or has played Magic the gathering (it's a card game for those of you who don't know) and has been involved in any drafts recently...

It might be fun to discuss some things

I played it long ago. Last time was about 6 years ago.
I used to play it on the computer sometimes, but since magic does not run under windows versions later than 98 i can't play it anymore. But we used to play a lot in the weekends, sometimes for over 10 hours in a row.

I have been looking at the newer cards, but i think the new magic cards are no fun to play with. It started to break down when the 'buy back' ability was introduced. They wanted people to use more artifacts and enchantments again, so they made some great new ones, but at the same time they introduced artifact and enchantment destroyers that could be used over and over again because of the buy back ability.

If i would ever start to play again, i only would play with people who also used older cards, just up to the moment before the buy back ability.

All i need is a Browse/Digger deck and I'm ready to go
Or maybe a Prosperous Bloom deck.

Hey, the newer cards are awesome! I've bought several decks over the past few years and we actually used to have tournaments round a friends house. My brothers back into it and if i can find some cash i'll buy or build another deck.

You can play MTG online now which is amazing. You have to pay though but you buy cards and build your own deck completely so it is just like your playing normally, except with someone around the world.

Yes I played for many years and only really stopped around a year and a half ago.... I just got fed up of all the new cards all the time and the effects were getting ridiculous - things that made "buyback" seem ingenious. I stopped playing for a while after the Urza's block and then got back into it with the Mirrodin block but since then I think it's over for good. Once upon a time a new set would come out every 6 months or so, but for the past few years a new set comes out every 3 months - and it's impossible to keep up! All-new mechanics get introduced when you're still trying to get a hold of the ones from the previous set!
