Who can help!!??

Postby Brad Monks » Apr 23rd, '03, 23:26

Im fairly new into magic and need a guiding hand, is there anybody out there in the Sussex/Kent area who performs and would be willing to gain a free pair of hands every now and then? Ive been into magic for just under a year now and have even found my clients requesting i bring a deck of cards to meetings!! So if anyone can offer help or advice to a 35 year old Account Manager (wannabe magician) then let me know. My email is Brad@bmonks.fsworld.co.uk

buy expert at the card table by Jean Hugard and some other bloke.
the only book you will need for about 5 years.
ideally find a local magic store, or if you are in london, pop into Davenports in charing cross.

Here's some free advice:

Get your confidence up by doing a few 'charity' gigs.
Try a local school, or go along and offer to do some strolling in a local pub. Try and avoid people you know.

You'll build up a bit more confidence reasonably quickly. And remember - most of the time, we're so close to the real workings of tricks that we fail to realise that the audience are baffled and totally engrossed in the performance magic.

But you need to feel this to understand and believe it.

Good advice. I started out showing my teachers, then did a couple of shows at a junior school, now I'm on the streets with Blonde Kaji picking random people. I live in Essex, which is just over the Thames from Kent, but I'm only 16, so I might not be of any use to you.
