Check out Oz Pearlmans website. It should have imformation on there about what he does during his lectures. Basically all it is the person hosting the lecture in this case Oz, will show you everything you need to know about magic and will explain it in great detail. Ive been to a few lectures at my local magic club but nothing like this. Cant wait.

Talking about Davenports I was astonished to see an article in my local newspaper about the place yesterday. There was a photograph of Betty Davenport and her two sons staring out of me and a very large article.

What is so astonishing about that you may ask? I live in Toronto, Canada that is what!

The local paper is actually a national paper which is the Toronto Sun. The article was in the travel section which explains why Betty was there in all her glory.

Davenports is a Magic Shop (and a society as it happens) in London. Very close to Charing Cross Station.

There website is here

If you want to go to the lecture then I suggest you phone them up. It is unlikely to be a problem.

Alternatively you could come to the Ipswich Magical Society Convention on Oct 22nd. Not only will Oz Pearlman be doing his lecture, he will be there all day long. he is very approachable and I am sure will be happy to chat with anyone and everyone. (Not you Mandrake - for obvious reasons*)

The other advantage of the convention is that you will get to seem him perform in the evening gala show as well, and if that all wasn't enough - Davenports, Alakazam, Card Collection, Stephens Magic etc. will all be there so you will be able to buy everything you need to keep you happy all the way to xmas.

Of course you will have to put up with the likes of Paul Daniels and Roy Davenport lecturing - but heh. You cant have it all.

There is athread on the convention here - but then you already knew that :)

*Just kidding...

Ditto, going to Davenprots is 2 days after my birthday so I guess I could have squeezed it in there.

Bah, my parents are already using the excuse; "your not having too much for your birthday, your going to Ipswich remember!".

Lol, Ipswich is gonna rock!!

Apparently Oz Pearlman was sent back to the States upon his arrival in the UK.

He was asked whether he was here for business or pleasure, and he said "business", but as he didn't have a work permit, he was sent on the first plane back to the States.

Does this mean everything has been cancelled?

Oz (pronounced Oze btw) does indeed have a work permit now, and as of yesterday (monday 16th) he is in England. Most of the lectures are back on. The only exceptions are Derby, and possible the Magic Circle, although I have hopes that that one may be resurrected.

It took a lot of work and 100s of phone calls to get the work permit at such short notice, but it just goes to prove that anything is possible. There was no way I was going to let a little hiccup like that put the scuppers on the Ipswich Convention.
