Struggling with an effect? Any tips (without giving too much away!) you'd like to share?

the only niggle i have about the stealth is the fact that "business cards" are used, which to an everyday joe like meself doesnt really have that much use for, however you can get 20 printed on the machines in shopping centres for about 2 quid and they do the trick (pun intended) quite nicely

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. - Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989..

Also, if you have access to a computer, printer and almost any graphics package you could fairly easily knock some up.

The other thing you could do if you really don't like business cards is to have one (two) of those really small packs of postit notes in the wallet.

Momentarily putting the issue of which wallet to use is best, what's everyone's take on a wallet (whether peek / card to wallet / indexing) that doesn't have things like credit cards in etc? As by chance, I have one card that has expired (due to magnet issues and credit cards) that I place in there to make it look like I actually use it, rather it being a prop. However, the logic of this is undermined that if using it in a himber capacity, the spectator will realise that a second ago a credit card was visible in the slots, but has now disappeared. Do you think this would draw unnecessary attention (heat) to your wallet?

What does everyone else do? Seems too much effort to photocopy (but even then it wouldn't be on credit card stock): short of having duplicate (unused) cards, what can we do?

The opposite situation, where there are no visible signs of life by being empty other than the odd business cards (Bar tender: "How do you propose to pay for this drink". Peformer performs credit card vanish to folded bank note a la David Stone Tool), looks equally strange (and suspicious?).

On the subject of being suscpious, some wallets look very gimmicky, not something you'd equate with your style. Rather than going to the other extreme in that skater-boy type CTW (can't remember that effect), the Showdown from Outlaw Effects (as an all rounder) looks utterly credible, and is a wallet I spent a good thirty minutes just looking at. A sad existence I know.

Old membership cards - magic clubs, AA or RAC etc. - or two old credit cards.

Yes, I've found that my expired red Virgin credit card looks pretty identical on the reverse to my expired casino card. And two old Bar Council cards adds a bit of realism.

The only decision is whether if performing casually, and on nights out for instance, whether to effectively carry two wallets - one normal, one magic as, as much as I adore the Showdown, I do prefer the aesthetics of my own normal wallet and keep everything there. In terms of space the Showdown can take all the additional cards, ID, etc but I feel as if I'm replacing my social life and sense of identity (melodramatic I know, but I am overly vain and fussy) with one that is dominated by magic. Perhaps it's the symbolism. However, with the coming autumnal air, it is now jacket weather, which does mean there are a number of additional effects I can do, as well as carry the extra wallet. My justification is that the Showdown houses lots of effects, and saves the need to bring a peek wallet and small himber wallet, but then again the question I ask myself the morning after, is whether one needed to have brought all those props, as I probably stuck to the same effects (i.e. your pet routines where you know people who have not seen magic before should see).

Pocket space is obviously gold dust. There are bonuses with Showdown, as it facilitates Alarmed by Alakazam quite well, as having post it notes in a slot justifies the wallet as a writing surface, and the idea of otherwise using a small writing pad (as in the effect) is too impractical. Similarly, the cover afforded by the small black reporter's notebook as suggested by Qualter, is not enough. Wallets like Showdown are also great as they don't scream magic prop, and are regular wallet size, as designed for front pockets rather than inner jacket pockets.

I just recently bought the Outlaw Hideout. I have to say it's a great wallet. I'm now using it as my main wallet. It looks just like an "ordinary" wallet and this was a big factor in me choosing it.
I love that fact that I now have KK with me at all times, and still have plenty of room! It also is a great peek and switching wallet.
The only thing I have had to get used to is the lack of a coin section. However this means I now carry coins in my jeans pocket, which makes coinvexed/coin extraction etc much more "natural".
I am a beginner but this wallet had already been used to great effect.

Thanks for your recommendation and tips! Glad I went for it.
Only thing I've found is that if I set it up as a switching wallet then I don't have that much space for KK. Maybe thats because it's new and the pockets are still quite tight.
