Postby krazy ace » Aug 3rd, '06, 21:20

I'm not a great fan of penguin magic but i think that these two videos say a lot:
Round 1:

round 2:

it's just a thought:

I'm not exactly sure what to think of either company. Both of them are guilty as sin for marketing effects that have been around for ages.

Many of Penguin's instant downloads are old standards (triumph to name one), and many of Ellusionists' "brand new" effects are the same (Mercury is an almost infuriating example of this).

There's also the war between Jay Sankey and Penguin - which has fallen into a bizarre category, considering Penguin is currently selling Sankey's NEW package for Snowstorm (the one with the DVD). So I'm not sure what's going on there.

Both have their faults. I think Ellusionist is a bit pricey in some regards, and Penguin has their "rip off" troubles. There are other, far superior shops out there on the internet, but these two should be given a bit of credit and respect in that they are, like others, helping to bring the art of magic to more people.

Yeah thats great stuff. And I really like the round 2 vid. where the hand "disappears" in air!!! (I know, I know it wasnt meaning to happen due to the editor of the vid, but it seems so funny and magical in same time).

Heh heh... I have to admit, my favourite bit... "yeah, but they're still just 52 pieces of cardboard. F*ck that."

I'd go with Penguin. Free shipping, their prices are usually very good, plus Brad Christian wears make-up. :P

Videos, funny in an uneducated & naive kind of way.

i have bought from both. both have good deals and not so good deals. so just buy the good ones. i am yet to see anyone who (other than anecdotally) offers dramatically better value on comparable items on consistant basis. i will take a look at magic.org though. thank you for the tip.
