wow what a great site! i feel deeply foolish for having only just discovered it!

My name is Atomo, i have been interested in magic since the age of 10, when swapped i BB gun with my friends older brother for a copy of Penn & Tellers 'cruel tricks for dear friends'. Over the years the magic bug has come and gone with varying degrees of intensity, but i am now in a critical condition, and i am currently totally obsessed with the art.

as a child i was a lover of small stage magic effects, using every birthday as an opportunity to add to my collection. Linking rings and fantasio candles were my favourites. Now, having just finished a film degree, and with a career as a magician looking rather distant, i have become a passionate student of sleight of hand and close up magic. With Jay Sankey quickly becoming my dvd mentor.

i look forward to becoming part of this online community, and will always do my best to help others with info i can provide.

also, i am part of a graduate film and video production group, and would like to offer our services to any magicians out there who may be looking to create a showreel dvd, or perhaps record instructional dvd's for effects they may have invented. We shoot in high-definition and have been praised for our visually high production values. feel free to contact me privatly if you have a project we could work together on!

As a final note, i have read some wonderful books recently on the subject of magic, and would like to reccommend them, as i found them very inspiring:

Hiding the Elephant: How Magicians Invented the Impossible and Learned to Disappear by Jim Steinmeyer. This book covers the history of how inventions within stage magic evolved in the 19th and 20th centuries, and paints a beautiful picture of a mysterious world of secrets lies and deceit in the golded era of magic.

Carter Beats the Devil by Glen David Gold. A fictional account of the life of vaudville magician Carter The Great. It cleverly mixes fact with fiction, and the narrative itself is a marvelous work of misdirection. I would describe this a a MUST READ whether you like magic or not! and a fellow magi in Davenports recently told me that it is being made into a film...
