I'd say it's the ones that have the effects you want to buy at the prices you don't mind paying.

Have you read the forum guidelines, by the way?

This is pretty good advice :P

Firstly where are you from?

Also is there anything in paticular your looking at. And how experienced are you. Then maybe we can help you find something usefull for you.

Off topic really but may I give you a piece of stock advice? Don't spend a lot of money on gimmicks. Most of us have been through that period and it usually involves spending a lot of money for very little return. Try Royal Road to Card Magic for card tricks or I'm sure someone else can recommend something for 'street' magic.

depends on what you buy.

if you buy a packet trick you'll use it once and leave it in the back of your cupboard.

where as

if you buy gaffed cards (not the Ellusionist type but the double back and faced ones) there are open ends to your tricks.

I personaly love magnetic devices because they can be incorpirated into all types of magic and people rarely suspect them.

so try and buy accessories rather than trick and invest in sleight of hand as that is always a hit.

Gaffed cards are a better purchase than plain ordinary one-trick-pony gimmicks, definitely. You do need card skills to use them well though, don't imagine you can buy the Red Gaff deck and become a master overnight!

If you're a newbie then stay away from the levitations!

Only if you can think up enough gags to justify the price.
