Riffle shuffle in the air

Postby gunnarkr » Sep 4th, '06, 22:45

I asked in my intro, but that somehow got lost amongst the rest, but I'm looking to buy a DVD or a download that teaches how to riffle shuffle in the air. I riffle shuffle on the table and now I want to lift the deck up. I have a few vids from Jay Sankey where he does this. I've tried to imitate what he does, but it seems I'm missing en element. I also have a DVD showing over 60 flourishes, but this is not in there. When I have the basics clear, I know it's practice, practice, practice... :)
Does anybody have a good tip for me please?

It's in the Royal Road to Card Magic. In the latter section on flurishes, I think.

Not that hard

This is real easy to do if you just practice. It can be done very slowly and fairly. It is sort of like showing a Svengali deck (if you've ever used one) just with both hands. Just do it over and over, while watching tv, sitting at work or in school, while driving the car .... just kidding, all you need to do is practice. I uploaded a video so you could see the finger position I use, find what feels right for you and use that. Since I had to hold the camera I did just one hand, both hands do the exact same thing, all you do is bring the cards close enough together so they interlace.

In case I didn't mention it enough already, PRACTICE it.

Hm...that video looks right to me o_0. It's just the riffle shuffle done only in one hand (i.e. to show the move). If you did that with both hands at once you would have a riffle shuffle.

J0kerz hit the nail right on the head. But this video up here, looks like it's made by someone that knows the basic, but never really got it... hahaha... or didn't bother to practice. Also, it's missing the waterfall finale! Tadaaaa!!! ;)
