What is your favourite gimmicked deck?

Postby Chief Of Magic » Sep 7th, '06, 01:29

Just wanted to stir up some conversation about what is your personal favourite gimmick deck, and maybe what is your favourite trick with it.

Mine is maybe a svengali deck however, the one I use most frequently is a perfectly normal deck with a short card. It makes for easy card forces and there plenty you can do with it and an imagination.

Anyways what are your favourites?

Post them here.

Mines a stripper deck closely followed by a mirage deck. I'm also a little interested in the ID but not sure yet

Hindu stripper deck, without a question.

Not so much a gaffed deck as an adventure playground.

i never saw the big deal with stripper decks, or svengali's to be fair. may possibly be just because i've never really used them, but i've never had a "i wish a had a svengali/stripper deck right now" moment. i really need to get over this "doing tricks with borrowed decks" thing and start using more gimmicked decks/cards

If you're thinking of a Svengali, you could do worse than check out

I like very much the stripper deck. The svengali deck is good, but limited, as so of speak.

Overall I love the versatility of the ID in so much as it can be presented in a number of ways as an effect on it's own, or to get you out of those tricky situations when something oesn;t quite go according to plan.

It never fails to impress the specs.

Others that I love are Kids Kards by Richard Pinner - just a marvelous story line to accompany these cards and I also adore Stolen Cards by Lennart Green - A simple effect but punches hard.

I'm a big fan of the stripper deck. Great to keep in reserve for when things are not going well. Just whip it out and you've got loads of impressive, fool proof effects to get things back on track.

I think the Mirage deck is great but I've never actually used it for a trick. I think I'd have to go with the stripper deck though as it can also be used just like a normal deck.

and completely examinable (although they'd never think of you using gimmicked cards)

i am a huge fan of the "NEW" ish factory made Bicycle stripper decks. the stripper deck is such a wonderful versatile tool and these are much better than the "after manufacture" gimmicked variety.

also, any discussion about gimmicked decks must include (as several people have done) a mention of the ID. truely a wonderfully clever deck that NEVER disappoints.

I recently got around to reading the method for Brown's "Smoke" routine. The naming of the card is what caused the normally elloquent Stephen Fry to involuntarily shout "f**k off!" at him in shock. It involved Kennedy's rather expensive deck, so it really deserves a mention! (I reckon mentioning it in any more certain terms would be exposure though!)
