Question regarding Tall-Ho Vipers/Tiger Decks/Ghost Decks

Postby rattlestar » Sep 8th, '06, 02:41

Hey guys,
I just got a real simple question, my apologizes if its been gone over before.

I have never owned a Tiger or Ghost deck; however, I do own Tally-Ho Vipers.
My question is... do the Tigers and Ghosts have the same feel as the Vipers? Like are they the same thickness and feel? From what i've read is that they are pretty much exactly the same except for different backs (obviously because ones tallyho and ones bicycle) =/

I personally do not like my Tally-Ho Vipers, and prefer regular bikes. If that is the case, will I dislike the Tigers and Ghosts as well?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

It has, in various forms many times. If you use the Search function with any of the card types as key word(s) you should find a lot of information and differing opinion.

I used the search engine, and have gone through a couple threads.
My main concern is just how stiff are the cards are compared to Vipers?
After browsing through many threads I havent found someone who has really answered the question.
Thanks again

OK, there are lots of fans of each brand here on TM and I'm sure they'll be happy to advise about the stiffness of the cards so stand by for some input :D !

I can compare Ghosts and Vipers to Bikes. i cant comment on Tigers as i dont own any.

ignoring the obvious, one is black and one is white etc... essentially the stock is the same (Ghosts compared to Vipers). however Vipers feature an all over "black" printed background. this of itself makes them handle slightly differently and also makes a deck of vipers slightly (say 2 cards) thicker than a deck of Ghosts. the stock is the same, it is the thickness of the ink that makes the major difference.

this means they are somewhat thicker than regular Bikes, they are also slightly more textured.

you have not mentioned why you prefer normal Bikes. if it is because of their appearance, consider the new Master Deck of Bikes. quality of the Ghosts, look of a normal deck of Bikes.

My thoughts are that the Ghosts seem to be a much lighter card and they fan much easier thatn the others. To me they are a very 'crisp' card in comparrison to the heavier Tigers which feel thicker. Incidentally, there is some difference between the red pip deck and the white only pip decks of tigers with the white being slightly thicker.

I also have found that the Vipers seem to feel a little waxier than Bikes.

Overall, the closest feel to a normal deck of bikes is the Red pip tiger deck. I've just got my first Masters deck but haven't had chance to open them up yet. What's the betting that they'll be followed by a blue version and then a blue gaff deck?

i love the look and feel of the ghost cards and the viper cards. As a matter of fact I much prefer the vipers to the black tigers (the silver is better in my opinion to the white on the tigers - and the vipers feel smoother/more "waxy")

I found my black tigers discoloured faster (edges) than my vipers.

I don't have any of these decks.
I love the looks, but the quality is a lot lower than "normal" bikes.
Same for the Talli-Ho.
Also they look dodgy to your audiences (which is a shame, cos they look fab).

aah i've turned my back on all bike cards...i only ever use fournier decks now, far better in my opinion...cards4magic.co.uk...

why do people keep saying bikes are not suspicious in the UK? all decks can be seen as suspicious...and its waddingtons that are the most recognisable in the UK, not bikes...always found that odd...anways...

no no I agree, but bikes are pretty much accepted here... When they play cards in movies, they use bikes... (even in Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels if i remember well)...
Only the negative coloured deck and funky decks, are considered as dodgy..
I'll look into the fournier decks, then...

as you siad only when you flourish does the funky cards look good.

the best colour is green. it looks nice and different but it is still accepted by lay people.

Personally, I've found people accept whatever cards I use and the only comment that I sometimes get is 'nice cards - where do you get them'?

I'm always happy for peole to handle the cards and infact, often ask them to do so which eleviates the suspicion.

If you get too much suspicion on the deck that you're using then my view is that you need to fine tune your presentation. Watch a good pro at work and you will always see that the specs concentrate on the effect and not the cards, no matter how unbelieveable that effect may be.

what are the tigers, ghost, and vipers made from?

100% plastic or something else.

I've never owned these cards and a friend of mine has these casino 100% plastic cards that are really good. Whilst all the plastic coated cards that i've seen are terrible.

Are the ellusionists cards similar quality to 100% plastic cards or the plastic coated stuff?

USPC cards are made from three or more layers of card and treated with a finish to make them smooth.
