Tropicoina - Coin though orange juice carton

Postby Mooch » Oct 8th, '06, 14:14

Hey,
I was trying to come up with a trick I perform for my family tonight whilst having dinner, and came up with this. It's another one of the "Coin though..." tricks, but this time through a carton of orange juice. We always have a couple of cartons of juice on the table during dinner, and my brother could go get one or something, then I could perform this.
Basically the carton can be examined by the spectators before the trick, and after. Anyway, the carton is passed around and a coin is found, it can be any coin and belong to anybody. The carton is then retrieved and shown again, before the coin is pushed through the side of it. Both hands can shown empty (apart from the coin and carton - but both can be set on the table or something) before and after the trick. After the coin has penetrated through the carton it can either be tipped out the top, so long as it fits, or the carton can be cut open and the coin retrieved. The carton can also be sealed, as in full of juice and the seal on the cap not broken. The carton doesn't once need to be opened during the trick, apart from the retrieve the coin.

In this performance, I used an empty carton simply because I was trying to come up with ideas, and managed to find something that worked, and that was the only juice carton to hand at the time. Also the coin I used was a 1p, which fits through the top, but it doesn't have to be. I simply used something that could fit through the top so as to reuse the carton afterwards. Also, I forgot to mention that the coin can be signed on both sides before penetrating the carton, and can be retrieved from the carton by the spectator if you wish.
I think that's everything, apart from thanking you for watching the video and hoping that you enjoy it ;)
Comments/advice would be appreciated. If you have any questions then feel free to ask.
Thanks again :)

It seems very cool indeed. The video is a bit blurry though, but ccan this only be done with a carton or do you think you could adapt it to anything else?

Hey,
Thanks! I'm really pleased that you like it. I showed it to my family, and they were impressed ;)
Anyway, I'm sorry about the lighting. I'll try to get a better video of it tomorrow.
Mike, I came up with the method myself earlier today.
Delude, at the moment it can only be done with a carton, but I'm working on getting it (or something similar) to work on cans or bottles.
Thanks again for watching the video and for posting, I really appreciate it :)

I think its a really cool trick indeed! If you're sure that the method is unique then maybe you could get someone like Craig to review it for you, and then you could make money from ellusionist  $£$ lol

Seriously though, i sur ehave never seen anyhting like that before and think it might be worth an email over to ellusionist.

Thank you!
I'll be recording a better video of it in a little while, with the coin and carton in shot the whole time. I'll also attempt to do this (or something similar) with a bottle as well. Maybe a can too, if I can find one anywhere.
Thanks again for the comments, they really are helpful :)

Nope, the coin can be borrowed from the spectator if you like. The trick is also very easy to perform - I'm pretty sure that almost anyone could do it ;)
I'm currently working on a coin through bottle method, so I'll let you know if I get anything done on that.
Thanks again.
Harry.

Edit: Well, I've come up with a coin into bottle effect, and produced a video of me performing it :D
I'm uploading the new video at the moment, will let you know when it's done.

Edit 2: Uploaded :)
