Although I do like the idea of revenge and/or public humiliation in this situation I would hope that the above suggestion is only acted upon as a last resort (Ok, second to last right before the previously mentioned Excommunication and Public Flogging). If he can be made to understand the harm to both the spectators and magic that his actions will result in, keeping the situation civil would possibly be best. My concern would be that the person in question, after being publicly shown to not know, will then search for more secrets and then make a point of exposing any effect you perform.
